View Full Version : diff
Hi,iv been running my Cougar every week for about 2 months, the diff has gone today, when i hold the spur and one wheel, the diff cracks and slips easy, rather than with a bit of force and smooth like it did,iv stripped it all and it hadnt come loose, would it be the circlip slipping, everything else looks ok,
thanks

Hi yeah if every thing looks alright would more then likely be the circlip. I rebuilt a few diffs at worksop for other people the other week as they were slipping so fitted a new circlip for them and they were fine.
cheers steve,your right it was:thumbsup:

Re: the Diff
I just built one and had its first race.. Great car and a great time building it,...
When i installed the diff it was not clear to me which side the adjustment screw was to be in the car? 2mm adjustment on the right or the left? I installed it to the right like on my AE cars. With the locking 1.5mm on the left..
It ran flawlessly.
On the locking grub screw do any of you use locktight on this to help secure your final setting? My friend had his diff loosen off in his main event(while in the lead!) and it ended his race.. I dont want that to happen to mine :)

The 2mm screw goes on the pinion side, and a little blue loctite in the locking screw is a must.

Oh ok! I had it backwards. Ill flip her over and hit some lock tight on it..
Bill, Gordie TQ'd with his SV last nite. I B-mained it but won that race to bump up to the A.... Gordie was well on way to win the race but his diff backed off... I went on to hold second place for a wile but shit the bed over a cross over jump... broke a steering knuckle...
When you coming down again? we should have 5 cougars on track next week wtih a 6th in the coming week
