How to make a reciever

Hi

I am currently at University. For our project we are making a RC car.

I have been given the job of the electrics.

I have a spare 27mhz transmitter lying around. My question is how easy is it to make a 27mhz receiver. Has anybody produced one before?

Joke aside, I think many of the large semiconductor manufacturers offer receiver chips with good application data. Do a search on Infineon for excample
