Thinking I may need a new car for a while, so am after the following:

1. Good car
2. Spares available trackside/quickly in UK (don't want to carry many)
3. Pretty reliable

Is a b44.1 a good option? What do they break, are any spares unavailable here in blighty?

Alternatively Cat sx2, are they reliable these days??

Other good options??

Yep! Just built a new one & it's a very nice piece of kit.

B44.1 comes with stuff like undertray, rear roll bar, lipo tray, thicker front tower etc, etc in the box.
Quality of mouldings much better like B4.1.
V2 shocks massive improvement.
Spares actually released with car!
And you should already be pretty familiar with it after playing with the photocopy version.

What's wrong with your 502?

Nothing except parts not available! Did a gearbox case at the weekend, am now using the one from my spare kit but as far as I can gather it's still gonna be around a mth before I can get spares of that type of thing, and that's if Champ even get back to me to let me know, probably even longer if I have to wait for uk/none Japan spares!! Am still looking for anywhere selling them though!!

My 2wd is out of action too, and most meetings are too far for me to risk coming home again after an early break!!

+1 for the B44.1 Amish,

Great spares back up across the UK shops and trackside.

Proven in the hands of Bradders at The Players and The Petit as well as across the globe.

Lol @ "photocopy version" :)

That's a right pain in the ass!! :(

Am guessing you don't have a 511 or DB01 kit lying around....would probably good to get another Tamiya as I assume you have a box full of spares? Be cheaper than buying a buggy from a different manufacturer, then having to buy even more spares....... £££££

I keep doing rear shock towers, I'm an animal, the towers are strong but somehow I keep destroying them!! Fingers crossed will have some of those tomorrow though!

I'd love to try the castor, what breaks on them though, and what needs replacing out of the box??

I've been running mine indoors in a freezing cold metal barn on concrete covered with carpet we have some large jumps and I have only broken 1 Fr shock mount and it did land very hard on it. The buggy as it comes needs the diffs and messing adjusted and the centre slipper tightened up, I am running a Ezrun 5.5 setup and it flies. Great buggy and for the money unbeatable. Thomas P has a bit of info in the general car talk section on here. Regards Ashley
