Anyone who would like to enter round 3 of the series next sunday please feel free to send me a pm with ALL your details in as requested on the entry form and I shall get you booked in and then just pay on the day, had quite alot of pre entries for this event so if your attending and you haven't told us yet please do so asap!!!! Also to the track helpers from last time could you please pm me and let me know if your planning on doing the same next weekend so then we can get everything organised properly once again and have a really good track. From talking to a few people we feel we need to put down 2 lines of tape near the start line so people who are setting off from 1-5 have their cars on the front row, and then 6-10th start on the back row, hopefully this will help to reduce any problems at the start of each heat. Any other suggestions please shout up and we shall see what we can do ;)
No plans to move the rostrum though as yet.
Hopefully it shall be another really good track and good meeting :)

Gerald thought it was good today.

He met some ace new friends; I think Carl scared him a bit though

He thought the meeting was really well run again, he liked the big jump in front of the rostrum but not the diagonal one across the track as the take off ramp was in two stages making it a bit random - it's the same for everyone though!

He liked the controlled practice too.

:)

Good laugh, I liked the track - probably not the big jump tho, it was a bit too balls out for me - but then again it claimed plenty of victims (not so much myself) so I guess it's not all bad.
My crazy Tamiya went ok too! and I even won a prize! haha..

The hilight of the day for me was us getting told off for having an empty drink on the table bought elsewhere - we were even threatened with eviction from the meeting for buying non-worksop beverage. I absolutely kid you not. :p

I thought that was one of the best jumps I've ever raced on! Nice and consistent, a decent downramp that was big enough to hit and time to be made for getting it right :)

Wasn't keen on the random bumpy hill thing going back towards the line though, that was aweful :(

If I remember rightly it was a maccy D's wernt it jimmy ?

Thats always been a bug bear with the center.

But I could understand why you had one ! I ordered a nuked potato at 11:45 and they had forgot and finaly got it at 12:35 . They did their best but piss up in brewery comes to mind. Like model car racing Preperation Preperation Prerperation.. If you know your gonna get 100 odd people in Simple things like change in the tills and pre cook a few things would go a long way !

Track wasnt to keen on the big jump ! actually getting it right single single was actually quite hard. big ramp towards the line No problem although 4wd's were effected more.

Great job Muzzy and leon and crew !

Oh and I beat ROB !!!!!!!!! HE HE HE HE HE ! :D

Struggled with the "random bumpy hill" as Richard so gracefully calls it!! The big just was fine as a jump - the problem i though was the landing area. I saw quite a few cars, my own included, land and then bounce up and over, the mats seemed to give a bit of a lift off.

Good meeting though, and yeah Jimmy i remember Mc D's alwasy being an issue back in the day. I seem to remember there being no problem bringing your own food - sarnies etc, but bringing in bought hot food was an issue i seem to remember.

Great meeting today, throughly enjoyed it.. well done to the people who made the track again!

The big jump was one of the best things ive been on since i started racing, pleanty of air, a nice landing.. although sometimes it went abit random.
The lil bumps were a little annoying.. but by the end of the day i thought they worked well to slow the cars down.

The D4s first outing at a 'big' meeting in my hands and it prooved to go very well. Qualified 7th in the A, the highest placed D4.. and finished 5th after some contraversity. Abit of a write up will be made shortly of the D4 @ Worksop so keep an eye out..

Has anyone got any vids of cars clearing the jump near the rostrum and landing nicely... or actually landing horribly but spectacularly?:eh?:

PaulRotheram
25-11-2007, 09:57 PM
I forgot to add also.. about the food situation.
I can respect that they dont want food brought in as they sell their own in the venue. But what about the likes of Jimmy who dosnt eat the type of food they provide, only to be told he cant eat what he normally eats without being told he will be removed from the centre.

They then had a go at John Price for having an empty soft drink carton (from maccie D's) on his table, after purchaseing a meal AND a pint from there venue?! Unreal.

jimmy
25-11-2007, 10:04 PM
I thought the no drink / food thing was, frankly, utter bollocks. I wouldn't dream of racing somewhere you get abuse for having an empty drink container on your table - regardless of whether it's yours or not.
Ultimately I paid to go racing - not go to a cafe (at least, that's what I thought when I set off this morning).

Anyway, lemme go finish up this little race report! :)

To copy what everyone else has said, a well run meeting once again, The practice was better, with the 5 min slots and only ten drivers etc.

James will be glad that you all like the jump as it was his idea. :p

I was a bit dissapointed not to do better, but I drove like a plank in the final run so dropped intothe 'c', and then won it while everyone was tryin to clear the jump..cool!

I think Carl scared him a bit though

Stu, I think he went blind after jimmy had finished 'strobe lighting' him with his flash!:D

Should make some cool pics though.

Well done again to muzzy for putting on another ace meeting. They're getting better with age.;)

I enjoyed the racing - most proud of myself for actually getting ahead AND staying ahead of people in my final, surely the first time I have out-qualified AND beaten other drivers! (Took long enough though! lol).

Very proud of Jimmy in his final, I thought he should have won it (you're the winner in my eyes Jimmy :p), at least he thrashed John! (Thanks for the lift btw John :D).

Big congratulations to Paul as well, great result there and well earned.

Re: the food, bit daft really, John informed us AFTER we got back from getting the maccies in that there had been an (earlier) announcement about only eating food that had been purchased on the premises. Rather harsh really. We make our own choices about what we eat, if they want us to take our own rubbish away then fair enough - just say that! But for the likes of people who prefer to take their own home-made sandwiches, bring their own drinks etc, we shouldn't be forced to purchase the venues consumables.
The kicking-out threat was a bit harsh I thought, and slightly off-putting!

Ahh well, big up to the race organisers though, again the track was pretty cool and a well run event!

I didn't know about the food thing, I just thought it was a polite request rather than an order to not buy in food.

I always take cans of Pepsi and sometimes butties, but I didn't think they were included in what they requested. I haven't brought butties since rd1 because I discovered their Sausage egg and bacon muffin...mmmhhh.

The request is "Fair enough" so long as they have understanding of peoples needs, such as diabetics, allergys (glutton, eggs, nuts etc), I personally have an allergy to spending money when I don't need to (LOL). The people at the centre seem descent enough, rather than monsters with £££ signs in their eyes.

Shame they didn't sell dairylea and lettuce toasties... ha ha...

Perhaps this needs clarrifying for rd4? (Its got to be brown bread)

Track was cool. Very different to rd2..... we have plenty more ideas for rd4.

Totally understand the views with regards to the 2nd jump. It was poor and very random, we did try and fix it several times but obviously it didnt really work. I want to put this idea across for next time! How would people feel with having the straight the over side (ie in front of the rostrum) the reason for this would be to make a "big" jump and a bit of a rhythm section. It would stop all the worries about not being able to see your car. Or the other idea was a diagonally?

With regards to the food i heard the call out but didnt know about jimmy "issues". Very daft in my opinion. It cost £3.50 for a bite to eat this morning and that was only for a roll. Im a poor student as im sure most of the are aware so i'd like the choice, if i want Mcdonalds then im going to have one. Especially if its costs a quarter of the price. Why dont they do it all half price when we come to the hall, they would make more money that way.

Anyways, im pooped off the bed. Nighy night folks

Ok everyone, many thanks once again for supporting the series as was said at the end of the day, was an absolutely fantastic meeting and some really really good racing, and the skill some of you lads and (girls) have to control your buggy over those BIG jumps like in front of the rostrum is fantastic to watch and for many people to admire!!!
Think the track was very good and challenging as we like to keep you all on your toes, and as Chris has already said there are many new ideas floating around ready for round 4. Everything ran smoothly and not too many problems.
Also big congratulations to those of you that won a prize on behalf of Schumacher Racing and Worksop Model Car Club, hope this makes a nice change from trophies for you, especially those drivers that won the small helicopters today, believe me you shall have hours of fun with them!!!! :D
Ok so onto the food situation, as has been announced at every round so far and about 2 or 3 times today, you CANNOT bring HOT food into the centre which is brought elsewhere, like Mcdees or the shop opposite the venue, however you may choose to buy that food but please eat/drink it within your own car in the car park. But as to regards to bringing in your own homemade sandwiches, cakes, crisps bottles of drink/pop etc then this IS NOT a problem, you are welcome to do so. The problem with the HOT food has ALWAYS been an issue at the venue for as long as I can remember, but I must stress however not the staff who serve and look after us on the day, but higher up the rank and something to do with there policy apparently, we also get a better rate for the sports centre assuming some people are going to use the facilities at the centre on the day for food/drink etc, if we had to pay full price for that arena for the whole day and saturday night when setting up the track the race meetings just wouldn't be possible to run for the club!!! So with the food issue I'm afraid I have to see it from both sides, even though I don't totally agree with it all, the venue is working closely with me to provide you all with a more varied menu and better prices like today. Now if there is EVER an issue with ANYBODY being thrown out of that venue then please come to race control and talk to us about it, as we run that event it is down to US who is thrown out of that venue, so rest assured you WON'T be getting thrown out for something as petty as that!!!!!
Also if anybody would like hot food etc at the venue on the day and has any special requests due to diet, allergies etc then please try and make us aware of it beforehand then we can organise with the venue to try and cater for you too, I have been told before there will be no problem with that.
Now sorry for writing sooooo much but after all the comments so far on these issues tonight I thought I should make you all aware of how things should be done in case you wasn't clear of it already, and as I say anyone with any problems during an event we are running at the venue please come and make us aware of any problems as we are there to help sort out any matters that may arise, gotta say I wasn't aware of any of the issues today as had my head in that computer for most of the day again ;)
Please don't let these small problems put a dampener on anything as it was an awesome meeting!!!! :)
Regards
Mark

We've tried this at formby Danny, and the main problem was that when people lean forward (as alot of people do) the view of your car goes out of sight at probably the worst place.. toward the end of the straight!

I like the idea of a really nice rhythem section though i do admit :) I 'think' it could of been done with todays 'big' jump if the first part was made a tad longer, and then a double after it.

Northy
26-11-2007, 08:57 AM
I think you guys really need more wood! :p

Haha, seriously, there was nothing wrong with the principle of the jumps, but the landings need to be a solid surface, that is how you make them consistant. Ply works well, but not the really thin sheets (that I think were used on the upslope to the random bumpy hill?).

Also, a word of warning. I saw many marshalls nearly get hit in the head when marshalling the 'big jump' (myself included), and I don't think mr worzle will like anything like that at the indoor finals. Safety is a BIG issue at the moment.

Track imho was not as good as last time, but was certainly a good drivers track :D

We don't mind having more wood mr north!:D never a complaint there!

If anyone knows someone who can make nice jumps out of ply then maybe they can speak to muzzy or leon about it. We were hinkin a nice wall ride would go down well too?

Our thinking with the straight paul, was that we wouldn't have any issues with infield obstacles obscuring the visability on the straight. we could always stand further back on the rostrum to help see each end of the straight.
We could make the rostrum out of the orange boxes, and use the tables that we stand on for the big jumps? That woul give us a few more feet to see the straight if we stand further back.

James
26-11-2007, 10:40 AM
'Haha, seriously, there was nothing wrong with the principle of the jumps, but the landings need to be a solid surface, that is how you make them consistant.'

We tried that but it didn't work, the centre had to throw some of the orange boxes away as they just werent safe so we were really short on large items to buils features out of thats one of the reasons for the crash-mat mountain, we gotta get some more wood as mentioned to improve profiles, using the rostrum as tel suggests as its so long sounds neat, will think on it..

PS. excellent report team oople, and those ariel shots are awesome, especially the one with rich lowes and paul rotherhams car!

Personally I would like to thank Jimmy for helping me to make the B Final in 2wd. I had been struggleing with the jump in front of the rostrum for the first two rounds, in the third round jimmy was taking pictures at the first part of the ramp and so in a blatant attempt to get a picture of my car on oople i changed to a slower speed over the first part of the ramp and found it a damn site easier and continued to use it for the rest of the day. Result was moving up from languishing in the C final to 10 th in the B and then having a monumental drive from 10th on the grid to third behind Rob Fox and Bondy.

Cheers Jimmy :D The pic looks great to.

lol, The only reason i was there was because someone had rolled over "Mid rostrem Ramp" and i felt it was a bit narrow to go round them. the carpet must only be about 1.5 metres wide.
