dave, i`ve got a used one you can borrow as a pattern to get some made if you want. i also have an alloy inner housing that for some reason has had a hole cut in the front you can have.

Yes, they are very rare in good condition! I asked Team Bluegroove and they might be interested if they could get a new 'master' to work from. I'm happy with their Procat shell and undertray. Maybe someone would be willing to send them one?

It's dead simple! It doesn't even need to be that spectacular as it's just to keep the transmission dirt/fluff free! I'd gladly make a mould out of wood or something if it's possible for Keith to make a mould from it!

I have got moulds of 3 different types of belt covers, so I can vacform some.
One is SWB CAT, the other 2 are for long wheelbase, one has that flat rectangle thingo near the front (I think this is for a CAT XL) the other is the same length but without the rectangular bit which I think is for the Procat?
Is Bosscat the same fitment aswell?

I.ll guess that it can be best would have been if it wasnt cut but i think it works and the finish is not so importante on an beltcover.

Great... will you send it to TBG or Kamtec? I heard Kamtec takes forever.

The Procat shell I got from TBG is good. There's a photo in my thread Procat for Li-Fe.

Deffo interested in a repro! Willing to contribute towards costs of getting these made too - even if it means underwriting the first x off the line!* :woot:

Does anybody remember what the flat bit was for? I keep thinking it's for sticking the driver to but I think it's too far forward for that!

I spoke to Kamtec a couple of weeks ago and they said they would have a prototype belt cover ready soon that they would send me one to test.

I've just called Keith and he should be sending it to me today so I'll update you as soon as I have it.

Hopefully we'll soon have a supply for these!

I personally prefer Brian's belt cover because it doesn't have the square section in the middle. What was this bit for... to make a little window to check the belt tension perhaps? imo the Procat cover with the straight sides is easier to seal up.

simonl
28-03-2011, 04:07 PM
I've cut out & fitted the Kamtec belt cover prototype that Keith sent to me, and it's looking good. I've sent Keith some feedback and photos. It was a mm or 2 too short but Keith had told me to expect that as he needed to adjust the form - but he wanted someonbe to test it before he did so.

It was a copy of the version with the square bit on it as per kaszal's post.

I'll keep you posted.

Attached area couple of pics (I'm partway through the re-build..!)

have had belt covers delivered and have cut one out and fitted it to a procat.
when i first looked at the cover i thought i had not made the belt groove long enough but when fitted the clearance around the pulley is ok with no fouling, and the fit is good at the rear. what do you think of them?.

i have some spare covers available that i would sell to recoup some of my outlay for materials and the vacforming, and i could ask mrspeedy to get some more done if there was enough interest.

i am more worried about how to package them for posting,(as my postman will try and force anything through a letter box). any suggestions?.
also what would be a reasonable asking price for them (as the vacforming cost £3-50 each)+the mold + post). i did this because i needed some covers and not to make a profit from producing them.i had 20 made and have 16 that i would be prepared to sell on.what do you think?.

gainsy
08-05-2011, 09:32 PM
Hi Brian
Good question about the postman, mine is the same, i guess bubble wrap & lot's of Fragile sign's on it, do not bend etc, maybe a pencil in the belt tray would stop it bending or make it more rigid :)
As for the price i guess that's up to you really, as you put in all the effort, i have no problem parting with £10 + P&P as this is the only part stopping me running my cat
Btw i forgot to say they look great, fab job Brian

i was thinking that £7-50 inc post would be expensive for a cover, never mind £10 + post, good idea to put something in the centre to re-enforce it during posting though, i`ll sort something out. would like someone else to fit one to their car to see what they think about them.

Hi Brian, you could wrap them in corrugated card or use postal tubes like these (I'm not sure if these are right size)

Well you need to cover the cost of your time and effort - I don't know how much time went in to making the blank but I'm guessing it wasn't knocked up in an afternoon. If you think you can at least break even at £7.50+P&P then great for us, but I'd be happy even at £10+P&P, especially if they're securely packaged in a tube like the ones Luke just posted

I'll definitely be up for a couple - possibly more, but I wouldn't want to hog them if there are a long list of interested buyers. :)

brian s
09-05-2011, 10:07 AM
i`ve sent one to gainsy to fit to his cat and he will give his veiws on it once it`s delivered (possibly tues).
once i know someone else is happy with the cover, i`ll sell the others i have for £8 each including post which should cover the cost of the brass to make the mold etc.

You may well be right mate, got told my info on the Schumacher forum but you never know, they could be wrong
I am currently thinking of having a red carbon fibre chassis & blue carbon fibre mounts & motor plates made by a company in the states
This stuff is very cool & can be made in whatever thickness you want

I know i'm digging this thread up from the depths - but I just wondered if there were any of these belt covers still available... or if anyone else could be asked to make one (Phat Bodies?)

I brought one from TBG which not only seems a little on the short side, I somewhat c*cked up cutting it out (trimmed it too narrow at the front) So could do with another one

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!:)

I haven't Adam - but I think its the only Lexan CAT part that he doesn't do (except those useless dust shields that go in the old-style rear hubs) - I'll send Steve a message to double check :)
