Hi guys

The work done so far looks great, can't wait to come and race offroad leccie style.

On another note if you require another pair of hands, i'm a local builder and more than welcome to come and help in my spare time.

PM me if you require anymore details.

Ian showed me the new room a few weeks back. The tables were done, and awaiting electric.
Very slightly smaller than the TC track, but will make no difference to the racing, its like 4 metres difference.

Looking like this could be a really good off road venue, and can't wait to get racing there.

With Tommo on the above, currently out of work so more than happy to come along and help out if required.

Hi Ian....I see you have been away for a while & you will post updates soon which is great - I thought I would chance my arm and ask the question everyone is thinking...any idea roughly when you hope to be up and running...I know I can't wait to come and use the track.... I'm sure there is so much more to it than I can comprehend but my excitement has overruled my head & I could not help but ask!
Look forward to see what all your teams hard work has achieved.

Dear Racers

Hope you are all well.

Due to family and other commitments Maritime Racing have not been able to get on with the build of the new off road track as much as we wanted.

We are about half way there in the new year we will be having work parties to get this venue up and running.

I will post on this forum the dates that we will be there.

We hope there is still the interest from the racers to use the venue.

If you can help and are still interested in racing with us please let us know

We briefly popped in last weekend to see the Maritime team.

It's all looking very good, the track area and it's facilities are coming on leaps and bounds and looks so much more than we could have envisaged when we first saw the site!

Here's some of the very latest pictures from last Saturday:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.10151278441050307&type=1

and am sure they probably made more progress after we left and would appreciate any help on forthcoming Work Parties, appreciating that last weekend was a busy weekend as far as race meeting were concerned!

And yes, before you ask, that Wall of Death IS indeed the full length of the left hand wall so the track layout can use it on more than one occassion during the lap!:woot:

Please keep a look out for further announcements from Ian, we're sure with all the effort that they are putting into this the first meeting can't be very far off!

Well I popped over this morning to lend a hand and wow - what a massive amount of work has been done...Ian and the guys have put a huge amount of time and effort in and it really shows! The guys just finished off the EPIC wall of death this morning, I can't tell you how big it really is! As far as the track opening it is not a million miles away - there is still electrics & power to finish, a kitchen to fit amongst many other things but the guys are steaming ahead, it takes so long to do everything - It took me three hours to paint a kick board the whole length of the track!! I reckon if we can get a few more pairs of hands it would mean the difference between racing so much sooner! Lets get this track open chaps - some of the ideas the guys are toying with are brilliant - after seeing it in the flesh I will be there as often as I can, like us all commitments permitting of course!
Well done Maritime - what an achievement already :)

looking good Ian, and sorry ive not been able to make it up to help. Weekends are not good for me at the moment.

Could i just ask something regarding the surface.....

A little while ago there was the question regarding tyres, and not wanting it to be a case of a new set of rubber each Tuesday and keeping costs down etc. Are the large areas of floorboards yet to be covered with carpet, or are they staying as boarding?

Only reason i ask is on a carpet surface, a set of mini pins will stay quick and grippy until they are practically bald. My last set lasted 4 race days and 2 full 8 hours practice days on carpet. With alot of boarding tyre wear is likely to be high and worn tyres i would imagine will not work so well.

As i say, just a question, not a critisism or such in any way, as im all for multi surface. Just interested in what the final surface is going to be in relation to the idea of keeping costs down

Maritime
16-07-2012, 06:14 PM
Hi

The track is a mix of boards ,carpet and astro

The amount of surfaces will change every 12 week

The track lay out will be the same for 12 weeks and on the 6th week of every 12
With in that track the obstacle will be move around

Give a total of 8 tracks per year

Hope this helps a bit

But can not give you % of boards , carpet and astro

Any update on how the track build is going?Dear Burty248 and all Racers

Sorry for the delay in replying

We are still pushing hard at the venue.

Some days it feels like a mountain of work to be done then other just a hill.

the truth being we are on the home leg,

But the more help the fast we race

So if you see on this thread the need for help please please if you can make it
come down and give a hand

So we all can get the benefit to race at this new venue

Thank you

that looks so much better now with proper guttering laid down. tyre wear could be interesting with so much wood, but its a feature that hardly any tracks have so a nice change.

Well done to all involved and who have helped

So gald I only live 5 minutes away from what will become one of the best indoor off road clubs.
