currently rebuilding my diffs and fitting better seals and shims so it meshes better but the rear diff crown has had the tips sheared off and small shards of metal in the gearbox case.
this is the second one ive damaged and last time I ripped 4 teeth clean off, since then was told brakes were to agressive so turned it right down and reduced brakes 25%
so whats still causing it to strip? its £12 a go with this part!:mad:

my guess would be shimmed wrong. I've snapped 2 wheel pins in the back and never done any damage to the diffs.

so you reckon the shims im fitting will help?
im talking about the large crown on top of the diff, internally all has been fine.

Here's a simple fix and it won't cost you a penny.
Before you do this clean out the gearbox and check the pinnion gear for remains of tips jammed in it otherwise the new crown won't last 2 mins.
1) Put tape in the gearbox cases where the input shaft bearings sit, both top and bottom.
2) Loosen your slipper.
I've not done one since.

slipper is loose as can reasonably go!

I either use no shims or one silver on the non-crown gear side. If you shim the diff make sure to check it once its fully installed in the car since the bulkhead pinches the casing slightly and tightens things up.
