Hi need a little help please

I have just installed some 12 Deg castor blocks (Alloy) and the steering knuckles are really tight

I had the same problem on one of the kit plastic ones but after a couple of runs it freed itself up!

What are people doing with the alloy ones as these are really tight?

The problem is the steering spindle isn't lined up, the top/bottom screws holes are at an angle, so they grind in the castor block! 2 solutions:

1. Put a 3mm shaft through the spindle holes to force them straight, then heat them up with a blow torch while the shaft is in, they heat and straighten!

2. Screw the kingpins in at an angle to the spindle so they are straight in the castor block...if you do this do each one a turn or 2 at a time and check how free it is, if it binds back out a turn or 2 and rescrew in with a twisting motion to again try and make the kingpin parallel to the castor block (rather than the spindle!). I use a little shock oil when doing this route as well!

Hope that makes sense?

Thanks for your reply

Knowing that the 2 holes didn't align perfectly I used a 3mm reamer through both holes at the same time

Just ran the knuckle up and down until it fell under its own weight when vertical

Seems to still be a little on the tight side but it doesn't have any slop and I am sure that after a run or two it will be perfect

Thanks again
