hiya everyone,

would just like to know who would like to go in a minibus we were thinking a 12 seater... if we split costs between us who would fancy it, we was also thinking of going across on the P&O ferries from Hull docks so there will be little to no driving and more time for piss up ! ;)

you can leave youre car at the ferry port i doubt it costs to do this if we all met there.. would be pretty neat if we could get a few people to go, would keeps costs low and would be great fun !

so far theres a couple of us interested in doing this ive seen from a couple of threads .. so just to see who else would fancy this just say ..

Assuming I get in (entry sent 7.30am this morning) then whilst I think this is a good idea I think I’m likely to stick to a car for flexibility and general ease. Getting everyone to leave the track at the same time etc can be a freaking nightmare.

Assuming we both get entries and everything works out we are thinking of getting an overnight ferry there on the Wednesday night (From Hull), to arrive there about 10am Thursday morning and have basically 2 days practice. We’d then also get the overnight ferry back on Sunday night. So 3 nights in Belgium, hopefully at a cheap local hotel (or B&B equivalent).

What would you guys plan on doing?

super__dan
26-11-2007, 10:20 AM
90 2wd and 80 4wd/truck I think.

It's mad keen this year, we obviously bigged it up too much after last year :-(

You can actually go anytime the week before, last year most people arrived on or before the Thursday.

Getting setup is really important though actually my Belgium setup actually benefitted me as it's what I ran at Stotfold as that has a similar level of grip!

Practice to the Max!

Nope Danny has been told that he is and i quote

"Hello Danny,

Bad news, by the way chaps I do remmeber the reserve list being long last year (though after a couple of days not hours) but that quite a lot of people dropped out. I think sme may not really realise how close it is to the Euros, and just other things crop up. Trouble is you may not know until close to the time.

X Factory Driver Antoinne was I'm sure reserve 10+ and got in but not until the week before. Shane, if you can leave the time free, I wouldn't write off your chances just yet!

The 154 is a favorite number of mine, and not the actual reserve places which are 24 for 2WD and 28 for 4wd at mid-day on the opening day for entries. Perhaps as this venue is gaining in popularity to this extent we in the UK should be putting it forward for a Round of our National Championship. From WISBECH it is closer than Southport for instance!

OK - Im warming to this! We already have cross border Regionals in NW/NE and in ME/EoE why not cross-border nationals? We are struggling for "good" national venues (apparently no-one likes flat grass anymore). Who's up for a National in Belgium if Willy and Liliane are prepared to host and offer a convenient weekend?
Did I just think that out loud?

I can't say how amazed I am at how quickly this thing sold out. Of the usual UK lot who got in;

Pidge?
Truman?
Mat White?
Reevsy?
Whyman?
Grant?

Not sure on the staying plans yet, plenty of time for that. You know you can camp at the track, but sleep will be at a preminum?

Actually lets have a role call now;

The ferry there leaves Hull at 7pmn, which is all great!

Problem is coming back, as it leaves Zebbrugge at 7pm and the meeting doesn't finish till 6pm. There is one from Rotterdam at 9pm, which despite being further away might be the best answer, and ready to leave after last leg of A sharpish!

Guess we will have to wait and see what becomes Efra Legal, as they normally adopt all the rules with the exception of cut and shuts which are allowed, however i have noticed that next year they want truck racers to use truck tyres, did think the trucks looked strage last year with buggy tyres and a large truck body!!

Chris, myself and Craig Harris are staying at the below. It's bascially £40 a night/room.

http://www.etaphotel.com/etaphotel/fichehotel/gb/etp/5247/fiche_hotel.shtml

This is near the airport which is about 10km from the track. The track is in a village out of town, I don't even remember seeing any accomodation any closer that this last year as we were about 18km away.

At the same location is an IBIS (expesive) and a Formule 1 (shared toilets and showers but £10 a night cheaper).

Planning on staying on 3rd, 4th and 5th, with overnight ferries on the wed and sunday nights.

How long will it take to drive there (once you've left the UK)?
What's to do around the area (i've heard rumours along the lines of 'absolutely nothing')?

You're looking at about 2 hours drive from calais, and yeah it's fair to say there isn't a massive amount around the area. Not sure about the local towns in all fairnes, but we always camp and haven't botherd verturing too far away. There is a pub just around the corner that has this "odd" billiads type game. Also a couple of other pubs just about in walking distance that look ok, think one of them is a "sports bar" or at least it i think it used to be.

Willy has way to much spare time on his hands.....;)

On the tires; depending on your driving and your goals from the GP you should get 3 to 4 runs out of a set. Usually I use 2 sets of tires for qualifying, and depending what main I'm in I'll use a new set or the qualifiers again.

They last even more than that I think from last year, I used 2 sets for the 7 runs and both looked pretty dam good after that. Defo take some worn ones (if you have them) for the practice days to pound some laps in, I hope it's dry this year as I loved the track time you get.

I assume that our radios are 10Mv? which is ok...

It's a lot of information but nowhere does it say "you can" or "you can't" use 2.4Ghz radios. Or have I missed something
