Has anyone tried to make their own shell for a mad rat or other rc?
I laser cut a mould out and glued and sanded it to roughly the right shape, just need to finish the mould off and then going to try to vacuum form it tomorrow. I'll post a pic later. Anyone know what plastic the shells are made from? I'm going to try HIPS for now, just to test it.

I'm setting up some 3D modeled shells for rapid prototype printing to make molds.
The plastic you want is Polycarbonate...

If you et the vacuum forming working I'd love to send some designs you're way for production :)
Send a PM at anytime if interested...

I already make bodies for the Mad Rat and the mid motor car (X2 and X2C) but only standard versions, I have a spare mould that if anyone is good enough may have a try at changing the design and adding extra features on to it, let me know, cheers Eric

They look good mate!! Do you reckon you could put a small block of wood or summin on the left hand side to make a larger space for the hobbywing that would be awsome!!!

Yeah shouldn't be a problem. Was thinking of a sort of scope style. I have the same esc.

good stuff:thumbsup::thumbsup:
As other posters have said, a raised part on the L/H side of the shell would be good. I too only just managed to fit my esc, as it wouldn't fit vertically. I'm sure you'd get a few takers.
