UPDATE: After some discussion we are going to make this meeting our Christmas bash, so bring your festive cheer. We will have mince pies and biscuits free when you buy tea or coffee and there will be prize giving after the meeting where EVERYONE racing will get a prize (mostly stuff you can eat, not some crappy piece of plastic http://www.uk-microrc.co.uk/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif ) There will be an added twist though, you will pick a name at random at the start of the day and he is your driver for the day, whatever position he comes you win that prize http://www.uk-microrc.co.uk/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif Meeting will be 3 Qualifiers (FTD) and 2 finals final scores added together to decide positions.
Caldicot RC Racers are having an open meeting on Sunday DECEMBER 9th
It will be at our usual venue, Caerwent Community Hall (see "Club Info")
See link below for club info, map, and pics of our hall.

Pity I cant make it, I am having a big session at Ascot. Gutted.
I wanted to see if I could still make the top three, well mainly due to never finishing any lower than that at this track since I can remember so would be quite amusing to see if it was possible again.
Any ideas if Dave or Peter's going?

JAMES: Not heard from Dave or Pete, might drop them a PM.
Roger: Here's a pic of the hall, track will have a bit more carpet and be a bit more technical for Sunday.

All I can say to the guys that havent been there before, its a tght small track but its one of the best carpet tracks to race on. Years back we had a few of the RRC top twenty turn up for a welsh event and what an event that was. competition is always close and fast. Also if Craigs doing the track its going to be a good design, as always.
Craig - I told Dave and maybe he will do it. I hope so.

Not to sure exactly, i think the core group that run the club went their own way, and the club folded, to emerge the other side of Blackwood, up in Markham, which eventualy merged with COBRA due to lack of numbers.

Craig remember when he let me in to see the cells being made and how badly he treated those cells, it made me laugh.
I cant believe you beat the Kyosho Team at Oakdale with those, mind you I cant talk either as I had to use them at quite a few events when he was around (even got stu wood to swop the cells when he wasnt looking hehe) and at the British Grand Prix with his 2wd pile of junk.
His house was a joke, he had so many nice cars rusting away

Too true, he didnt even comment on me doing 135mph and driving without due car or attention when I took him to the event, the one where I decked Cliff hehehe

Hehehe well believe it or not I have mellowed out big time. Still memories are great and a lot of fun was had through those racing years.
You never guess who I had a chat with today. Dave Duggan, now that brings back memories of when I raced against him way back in the 90's, and of course his old man Brian, BRCA chairman and top notch chap who didnt ban me from the BRCA with all of my crazy antics (Dave and I got up to a lot of nutty stuff hehehe)

Hi anyone got a post code for the place please??

it's about 2hrs away from you Nick. Don't follow shortest route through mid wales, just gun it down M5.

wouldn't m5 then m50 be best? should bring you out very close by it

wouldn't m5 then m50 be best?
Yeah, prob M50 aswell (i usually carry on to Bristol) What i meant was the shortest route from North Wales through mid wales can take a hell of a lot longer than the longer route via M5 that's all motorway. Great fun roads when dry & enough grip to attack them but just a pain in the backside early on a winter morning.(had to see where i was going out the side window of the 924 way too many times...)
RogerM
06-12-2007, 09:48 PM
Using the M50 is definately the best bet as they charge on the way IN to wales on the bridge but is free to leave ....... often thought that must be a mistake ... surely they'd make much more money if they charged to leave over the bridge and sold rain coats on the way in ;)
:)

Nick, I was thinking of your dad's driving. 3 hrs for most other people. :D
2hrs is averaging over 80mph including A5 & shrews roundabouts etc.
Doors not open until 11am so not too early. Plenty of time to sleep your hangover off...

I enjoy it ..... first time with a 2wd car since about 2002 and the first time with a 2wd on carpet in longer than that.
Track was interesting and flowed well, how I got the car round with next to no brakes from that bonded LRP I'm not sure though.
Craig let us know when there is another one .... I'll be there for sure.
