the manual says put them on the outside of the hubs on the wheel side, which i have been doing, but what - or + effect will i get putting them on the inside thus shortening the wheelbase?

I would imagine that by moving them inside the hub you would move the drive shaft too far into the diff outdrive. Not good I would imagine.

good thinking! put them back as they should anyway.
Hi mate,
by putting the gold washer on the inside of the hub your reducing the cars track width.
A narrower rear track width will:
increase grip at corner exit
increase high speed understeer
be more prone to grip roll
A wider rear track width will
increase rear grip at corner entry
increase high speed on throttle steering
use to avoid traction rolling
Hope this helps
