It seems the yanks are fond of slapping things like WD40 etc all over their tyres pre-race..
Is that something that happens here in the UK? And what are the benifits??

I 'think' thats illegal as it's classed as a additive, although someone will have to back me up on that, ive not got the rules book with me.

Back in the day we used to cover the car in WD40 if the track was muddy, just to stop mud clinging to the car and weighing it down. Suppose the yanks would do this to stop dirt sticking?

Anything other than water is classed as an additive and is illegal.
