Pinion for a 13.5 motor

Can someone give me a suggested pinion size for a 13.5 motor in me Cougar SV please? (Running the steel layshaft and acetal idler).

I would say that you would need a smaller spur than standard something like 76 and then up as big as you can fit in there.
