Testing a 511 in practice this weekend, anyone got a set-up for a 511 and gearing for a 6.5. Thinking 91/20 for gearing?

And yes Hupos (called team drivers on this page) from Bilbao is where to start.

Gearing sounds about right.

Cheers, I'll look at Hupo's :)

Testing a potential 511 with my 410R up at Stotfold. Just a case of hoping the 511 doesn't break as the Rango is like a tank. Not sure on testing on an unknown track - LOL!

Ive only done shock eyelets and front wishbones.

Since changing to AE eyelets and 501 wishbones the 511 is now a tank too

Mmm ok think the car I'm testing has the 511 wishbones on it.. eek.

AE eyelets, reason for this, stronger?

6.5 V3 at Stotfold too much for a learning car sess?

I would use a smaller spur, and 89 or 86 on a 20 or 21 pinion.

Bigger top end and I assume calm the acceleration down. Haven't got any anyway

Yes ive found the AE eyelets to be stronger.

i run 87T spur 19T pinion on a 5.5. slightly over geared to slow down the initial punch.

Sorry I did mean 87 not 86.

I've run a 89/20 5.5 at the min, however next time I change the spur i'm going to drop to an 87

Let RW Racing know with regards to sizes as Neil's doing a variety

Neil's also doing the longer pinions for a better mesh from what I understand

Mike,

does an M3 screw go through the associated eyelet??? I wouldnt have thought this was ideal, or do you use imperial screws into your wishbones?

The front wishbones are a bit weak but only if you land heavily on one side. Even when mine have cracked they always seem to hold together enough to finish the race.

The standard front shock tower I found to be the weakest part. Other than those two parts I haven't done anything else. Front shock shafts are prone as are the caps. Again only in heavy impacts though. I run the RW spur 89 everywhere.

Yes mate it does, Maybe a bit tight but doesnt affect the movement of the eyelet on the ball. and i use the plastic balls not the FT blue ones.
