hi there,
i am going to get my car ready for the first round of my local regionals and i need a few tips on getting the car ready. i was going to rebuild diffs clean everything check shocks. what else should i do?
also my shocks seem to let alot of oil out. i have a phil booth edition and i recently rebuild the shocks with new seals and there is quite alot of oil at the shock bottom what could i do?
and lastly my car seems to struggle with turn in what could i do to improve this? i was using blue minispikes and using Grant Williams setup but could my servo not be up for the job it is a savox 1290MG with 5kg of power is it strong enough? what could i do setup wise?
many thanks

checking / replacing the belts might be something to look at doing.
Not raced mine outdoors yet, but thought yellow mini spikes were the tyres to use?

if your shocks are leaking oil then theres something wrong, check on line for a build guide from schuy, its on there site, and replace all internal shock parts, yellow tires will make a massive difference to turn in , and as already said check belts

i have recently replaced all seals and used it once and they still leak. i will order some green slime and use that to see if that helps. went to my local model shop today and got myself some green minispikes and some medium inserts is that a good tire choice?

Depends on what surface you run on and the track conditions

i wouldnt use green slime personally where abouts is it leaking from the shocks at the top or on the cap at the bottom , but the green minispikes should really be run on wet tracks as they arnt very good on dry tracks

the oil is leaking out the bottom where the seals should stop the oil. the track i run on is a worn grass track with small patches of dirt but lot of people where running green last sunday. i will find out

it might be worth to get someone from your local track, maybe a team driver or someone with the same car maybe they can spot the problem

They/we/I were running green ballistics fella;). It were wettish and on a hill. Once it dried, most moved to yellow mini-spikes.
Swap you schuey greens for yellows. Also (I know it's an extra expense but) pick up a set of Ballistic greens; they will last for a very long time.
If your having problems with shocks, we'll ask Chesty to have a look. He changes set ups so often on his CAT, he is probably the MOST practiced shock builder in the world.

Maybe Kenny and a few were running the schuey greens. With the rush of running tc and off road I didn't get to see the 1st off road heat.
I would still recommend the yellows though. ;)

Maybe Kenny was using the greens, but he wasn't winning was he;)
George and I (who were winning) were using yellows or ballistics. My 22 hated the greens when I gave it it's first few runs.

well i am going to try them this weekend i can't afford to buy another set i could only just afford the tires i bought. so i will have to glue them up and use them. :( not happy with galaxy.
i doubt anyone will trade them with this short amount of time until the regionals.
many thanks
lewis
Hold off glueing them. I have a set of yellows you can trade them for. But! Decide on the day, as none of us can be sure what the weather will be. Come and see me first thing, and we'll get you set up for the day.;)
You can get out and practice on last weeks tyres while the glue is drying;)

hi ben,
thanks very much for the offer are you sure you want green minispikes? i am not to worried if you dont wanna trade sets if you will need them seeing as you will be contending for regionals as i know i cant get anywhere as close to you lot.
many thanks
lewis
I have a box load of tyres ater putting a large order in last season and never managed to get through them all! And whilst I wouldn't compete with the greens, they'll be fine for the odd club meeting when the LRP makes it's showing;)
In the meantime, give the drive train a once over, check for anything loose or worn, shim where necassary and check your electrics are stuck down nicely. Mr C will give you some assistance on the shocks on the morning, or we'll handicap his points as punishment.
On a side note, I am not contending for top spot. I am having it. Should bad luck serve or other people drive better than me, non of it matters. I have the keys to the website and I'll finish where I please!

cheers Ben much appreciated. i ordered some of that green slime as well as some other bits and pieces so i will use that on the seals and hopefully keep it sealed without covering my car in shock oil! :D
do i sense abit of cheating from you Ben? if you are sure about those tires then i will hold off the glueing.
many thanks
