First round of the summer series.

Fingers crossed for a great series like in 2010. Will anyone step up to take on SteveB? Plate of meat 2011?

Not sure what class I'll be running come 1st May (don't currently own a 4WD).

More detail can be found here : http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63494

Hopefully Team Schumacher will make an appearance again this year.

Also Schumacher are kindly supporting the series, so it'll be Schumacher TYRES ONLY.

There will be trophies for the top 3 A, B & C finals.

Supporters of TORCH 2011 Summer Series are:
Schumacher
RW Racing
RCLazy

This is a very slow thread

Positive news today, all trophies have been ordered for the event and very nice, if I do say myself

Trophies for all 1st - 3rd for all finals A - C. Also running Top Junior and Senoir for the day. Thought this would make it interesting for some of the old timers running around the track, so this will be interesting between Al and Martin, cause they drive like old timers .

No TQ trophies I'm affraid, but who cares about Top Qualifier, its all about the final :p

Schumacher South are hoping to get to one of the summer series again this year as it we had a good time last year.

I hear the track has changed quite a bit. Does this mean that there is now more than one layout? or is there still a home advantage lol

I am sure we will start a new thread asking loads of important questions once we know which meeting we can all attend

Hope your first meeting goes well

I can't believe i have only been to TORCH once this year, after doing some of the track work in the winter. Then a few family matters to sort out. I have had alot on my plate.
But finally i will be down to join the allday party on sunday, so looking forward to seeing the new jumps.
Here's to a great day for everyone.

Neil

I'll be running the SV, so Steve, you better run that gold tub, it'd be great to see that ol' girl running again.

Thanks Tony for a normal answer, will we see you Sunday or are you working or at Slough?

MrMagoo
26-04-2011, 09:14 PM
Sadly we (Tony and I) can't make it as we're at Herts/Westmill/Ware (why so many names for one place?) for the first round of the Truggy Nationals. Kinda  and  all at the same time. At least we can get a sneak peak at their new Astro track while we're there!

Gutted to be missing the all-dayer, the forecast looks ace and I know the track will be the nuts... but two days of Nationals, beer and eating takes some beating:lol:.

Oh, and I say go with the 22 as well. With the number up for sale at the moment someone needs to show it can do the business!

mikeyscott
26-04-2011, 09:15 PM
Shame, what about rest of the nitro crew?

Vega or SV ;)

Oh hertz astro yup feedback as I'm doing 4wd regional there.

MrMagoo
26-04-2011, 09:21 PM
Pretty sure Byrners and Jamie will be at the SRS rounds at Slough, think Chris S-S could be around though... don't know about the others, depends if they get into Slough I suspect. Being the first round of the Regionals it'll be a sell out (120 driver cap I think!).

Was going to do the electric regional at Herts in June, but looks like I'll be in Chicago on business instead now. Will get you some spy shots if I can though!

Hi Mark,

i'll always buy wheels tyres ect from you trackside, i use JE for Team Associated parts, not sure if you stock associated as you never have any parts at race meetings???

makinwaves
27-04-2011, 09:38 PM
It's tricky for us to keep all the parts for all the cars, but if there's specific B4 parts you need (or break most often!) let us know and we will be happy to supply whatever you need.

We order parts from CML most weeks and would be happy to add any B4/ B44 bits in as well.

We have got the new B4 bulldog Proline shell if anyone's interested.

Otherwise we will have all the usual wheels, tyres, glues and oils plus Durango and Tamiya spares.

Looking forward to another good days racing and hoping that Mikey has booked the sun!

Hi Deano,

Again same rules apply if there's anything you need from Schumacher let us know and we can bring it along.

We've got gear sets, diff parts, turnbuckles and a few odd parts too. They must be pretty bulletproof as no-one has asked us for any bits other than spurs recently.

So what do people break and what would you like us to stock?

Cheers

The track at the moment is great!

Fast and flowing, some nice jumps, some bumpier bits (but not too bumpy), and a tricky chicane onto the straight. It's well worthy of the trip down!

Check the servo is in the centre on the transmitter trims before putting the horn on. And yes, as Mikey says, check the end point settings.

We have a cheap Etronix metal geared for £18 that will get you going okay, but let someone check over your car first.

Hi,

Right thought I'd just clarify this.
£10 for non members
£6 for non member juniors
£8 for members
£5 for juniors

If you're doing both classes (nuts in my view) it's 50% again.

Having right money would also really help

Two pics attached :)

A final trophy and the wine for the person who beats Steve. Don't beat Steve I'll be drinking it with my wife on Sunday evening  If you're under 18 then sorry no wine...

Hi,

Yes a great day for the club and gives me more confidence with further changes of applying for the mid south region ;) - re the distance thing I'd request for a two day regional 2WD Saturday / 4WD Sunday like SE are doing this year.

Not a prob, fully understand. Yup it's been a hard slog, but full marks to the boys who have worked on the track etc.

Have a chat with the Schumacher south crew, DC and co at the next national as they're planning on coming back, don't know when though. Makes sense for a en mass trip if possible?

Oh and the Vega 201 was awesome, just needs someone better behind the wheel now! My SV will be heading for the shelf I feel :(

Good luck next weekend and see you at Silverstone for the 4WD regional, then herts and ware Can't do the 2WD series, not enough time in the day/months etc! :(

All you need to do is make parts of the track wider min 2.5mtrs (was only 2 in places) and make the rostrum slightly longer (Was a bit snug with 10 on the rostrum), create a bit more pitting area. Also get rid of that stupid sleeping policeman  with these changes it would be a great addition to a regional series (whichever one it may be)

Oh and make Steve slow down. :woot:

Jack and I both had a great day - only he managed to win a 2nd place trophy whereas I managed a lowly 10th in my final:cry:

52 drivers in total which is a club record last broken about 20 years ago:thumbsup:

There were some great battles in just about every final and I saw several finals decided on the very last corner. Thanks to Mr Dudders for his commentary during the finals - a very hard job especially when someone hands you the wrong final listing and you spend half the race commentating on the wrong final - sorry Neil, couldn't resist:lol:

To those of you who came and enjoyed yourself please tell your mates and come again.

We always want to get better though so constructive feedback is always welcome. I think widening the track slightly has already has already been mentioned so we will have to consider how we might do that without losing the flow of the track or the marshall safety spaces. We are already on the case with car parking - we coped yesterday due to everyone parking considerately but if we had had many more full sized cars it might have been a bit cozy. Contact details at top of this section or PM me on here.

Cheers and see you all hopefully on the 29th May for round 2 - don't forget we race every Sunday morning so plenty of opportunities to pop down for practice.

Really enjoyed the meeting, top stuff

Track is getting good, maybe a double double or a treble to really get the air time.

The day meeting format is spot on:thumbsup:

cheers

Yup many thanks for your help. I was totally exhausted by that point. Thankfully the vega was good. Need some private testing to learn it more etc. Want to test roll centres, wheel base and rear toe in to start. Then new ESC software.

Many thanks Rob, hope to see you next time.

Liking my Vega with the exception of it being so ugly. So nice looking 22s there.

WOW, that was indeed awesome, I had such a fun day. Poor race results but that really didn't matter as the sun was shining and the track was great (top dollar, Martin). I haven't raced on the track since January, and i can't wait to race on it again.
I would just like to thank the guys at TORCH (Steve, Mike, Julian, Rob, Martin etc) for putting on this day, the first of 6 (hopefully better results wise) really excellent days racing.
I urge people to come down to TORCH, it really is worth the effort.
It certainly has renewed my interest in racing again.

Thanks again, see you next time.
