Hello,

I'm looking to join you for some racing tonight...

I am new to 10th off-roaders but have raced 10th on-road.

I have a 2WD HPI truggy (same chassis as the HPI Blitz short course). Can you accomodate me?

Cheers,
Iain

Hi

Unless I'm mistaken that is a different class to buggies so we can't let you race with them tonight.

If you wanted to pop down for a practice before hand for a few minutes you'll be more than welcome.

FYI we are planning on run short course on Sunday's. If there is call for 1/10th truggies we can run these too.

Thanks for the quick response Neil.

On your website you have four classes listed as running per meeting - http://www.shrccc.co.uk/whatwerace.html

Cheers

Dudders

Correct for Sundays (2 and 4wd buggy + Short Course and also run what you bring) Short Course and 'RWYB' are subject to numbers and might run together until interest ups.

However tonight is our first midweek 'Shootout' championship for buggies only.

Many thanks to all who turned out for the first ever meeting @ Surrey and Hants Radio Control Car Club.

Well done to the winners tonight who are on their way to a £100 prize!!!!. Also, some great racing all the way through the field :woot:

Next meeting on Sunday the 8th where is there is enough racers they'll be trophies on offer for our 'Open Meeting' :D

Cheers Neil, Excellent inaugural event with a superb atmosphere!

Shame I blew the front shock out on the CR2 and then broke the servo horn as I was just lapping round to get some track time

So had to resort to the old xxx which I just couldn't find the right set up or tyres for on the night! But despite that had a great fun evening...

See ya next tues for practice and possibly a few heats too?

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks for allowing me to have a blast with the truggy during practice. Thoroughly appreciated!

A really friendly, laid back and fun atmosphere - Especially liked the music on the rostrum.

A great start and i wish you the best of luck with this new venture. I'll be back soon and quite possibly with a new car too. ;)

Ian, many thanks, sorry I couldnt spent more time with you but I was a little bit tied up!. Glad you like the track.... when is the new toy arriving? :woot:

IainC
05-05-2011, 12:50 PM
Hopefully the TLR 22 will arrive today. :)

What wind motor would you recommend.... Something like a 7.5T?

Also what tyres and inserts are people finding successful?

Dudders
05-05-2011, 01:03 PM
Good choice. Other TLR drivers down at the club are The Hatton twins and Simon Fearn. There was another but forgotten who drove it, was white I think

They can help you with shocks and positions etc but the tyres are simple, Schumacher Yellow Mini Spikes on the rear and Yellow Staggered or Cut Ribs on the front.

Good luck on the build!. Might see you Sunday also?

kinggareth
05-05-2011, 02:55 PM
I've also got a TLR 22 and was looking at coming down to race soon (as soon as my Lipo turns up!!). The cut/staggered ribs are a slim tyre, but the 22 uses wide front wheels like a 4wd, do you just stretch the tyres across or should I get some slim wheels?

Dudders
05-05-2011, 02:58 PM
You have three options.

1: Buy a Slim Wheel (if they make them)
2: Stretch fit (not hard to do)
3: Dremel the wheel fin down

I use option 2. Seems to work fine on my B4.1. This is for the old style staggered rib and the new style. People say they handle differently but I cant tell. Note this could be down to my driving skills rather than anything technical!!!!!

If the whether stays onside it could be a great turnout. If we have more than 30 drivers (which might be possible :woot:) we might only get two heats in and one final. If this is the case the race fees will be lowered to suit. I would prefer to drop the cost than not allow people to race.

Do we need to prebook in anywhere to make things a bit quicker and easier for you to get the names in? Also payment, paypal again? - Let me know either here, pm, or email.

Been down the track today to cut the grass and let a private practice session have a blast round for 2 hours. Track is nicely worn in now so I expect to see some lap records tumbling down tomorrow night!.

Trophies just collected and speaker volumes sorted :D as well. Can we do it tonight too?!!!!:thumbsup:

Gates open from 6.30pm with the first heat on the line 7.00pm. It will be quick fire turn around so we get as many heats in as possible. Best to pre charge cells and top up on the night. Looking at 3 or 4 heats so we'll have a timed 2 minute turn around.

PLEASE BOOK IN AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE BEFORE SETTING UP

another great close nights racing in all the finals! Superb atmostphere... all I can say is I was a bit confused at the number of 'Dudmans' competing in the various rounds!!

I thought you were joking before about getting a ringer to race for you... You seemed to be holding out quite a practice night for who is the real Neil Dudman!

That Mad Rat turned out well in the end! Although I still think I could have caught you if we had more than the 4min final! My fault for spinning out within a metre of the start hooter!! But I was gaining on ya', even if you had stuff in reserve!

Great track, I really liked it and was getting my lap times down into the 22's for it... Even the new fastrax tyes were working well for me... Bring on sunday for the GP!

Apologies for the slight admin error in the B final. I tried to sort the timing issue before the race started but it would'nt correct it, so apologies on your lost minute :thumbdown::thumbdown:.

It would have been close had it been the full time, but i had at least a second a lap in hand if i had needed to push to win so :p ha ha. All i can say the kit with the motor and Esc and controller was £80 the alloy suspension was £20.00 with springs (savox servo £60.00 SSHHHHH keep that quite) lots of weight so for £100 pounds plus a semi decent servo you can have fun at any club which is not bad, love the madrat

Ha,
yeah was a bit of an 'epic fail' on the startline by myself!

One, Q with regard to the shootout points, is it 4 rounds to count or 3? I thought it was 4, but the last column on the right now says best 3? If its 3 some of the addition needs to be re-done I think...

:)

Dudders
15-06-2011, 05:55 PM
I'll check the text on it later.

You need to enter 3 rounds to 'qualify' for the final shootout. Best 4 rounds to count. If scores level it will go down to the next highest scores to see who is higher. HTH?.

Generally towards the end of a series the latter rounds are less well attended so you can pick up places as people think they are 'safe'. Although I'm not sure this will count for the Shootout this year.

Meet with Drew and Iain C today at the track to have a play with a petrol whacker unit. Although the ground is soft this thing didnt work so we gave up after 2 minutes!.

BUT we did find a suitable 'manual' tool to smooth any ruts out and boy, its worked a treat. Only did about 10 mins each before we left and it really did work well.

No deep ruts or divots on the hair pins, so all good. Track is growing nicely and should be hot for Tuesday

Dudders,

So if I understand this correctly. I only need to run in 3 rounds to qualify for the final shootout - But you add up your best 4 scores ?

So if I got say 80 points from 3, I could be against someone with 110 points from 4.

If you only compete in 3 rounds to qualify for the shootout I would assume you have no chance of making the top ten if others have done 4 or more ??

Please clarify- Muchos Gracias

Dudders
28-06-2011, 11:01 AM
Hey bud,

Correct, 3 rounds to qualify to be in with a 'chance' to make the top 10. Whether this is possible is purely down to the number of racers in each round and also your finishing position.

For arguements sake, if you just did 3 rounds and won each one with 90 points, I'm pretty sure you would make the top top 10, even with some or most racers points from 4 rounds.

Does that make sense??

Neil

vassallo
28-06-2011, 11:28 AM
Yeah it does make sense - but I would say the odds are against you.
I can only do 3 rounds so we will just have to wait and see !!
Looking forward to tonight - Hoping it will be dry.

Dudders
28-06-2011, 11:32 AM
Agree with what you say but I needed to ensure that a 'national spec' driver couldnt turn up and win two rounds and be on pole for the final final, against people who have supported the series and club week in, week out. Could'nt think of a fairer way to do it to be honest.

More than happy to look at suggestions for 2012 if you have any bud

People have commented that there is no 4wd heat. IF enough turn up (non shootout cars) I will run a heat or bung them in with the 2wd so they get a run out.

I'm relieved. Thoroughly hacked off with the CAT. Not because I didn't win but because my rear belt let go when I was a respectable 4th place which I would have been chuffed with. The CAT is on the naughty step. Shumacher want £12 for a little piece of plastic you can't buy without a alloy pulley, how stupid.

Not Racing till TORCH's next all day meet at which i will decide if I keep the CATS.

Well done to Rob, Pip and James.

Felt for you matey as your were flying and the car looked really hooked up. You were on parr with Pipski and Gentleman James for sure, who knows, could have been higher than 4th......:(

Thank you Neil, I was pushing hard until catastrophe struck like a kick in the NUTS, I would have loved to just finish. I think that I was only 7/10's per second off of Rob Elms on my faster laps.

Great series Neil, definatley got the bug for RC racing again now after a 13 year absence! Something I'm sure my bank manager wont thank me for!

If I can only keep it on its wheels and stay consistent.......

Looking forward to the next series!!
