hi there,

last meeting i had the trouble with my rear driveshaft coming out its outdrive. i recently fitted the longer grippa joint mod to all the shocks to help the car on the rough  it has made a difference however it think it is causing the rear driveshafts to fall out? i am running a full grippa joints on the rear shocks and 3/4 length grippa joints on the front. should i slightly cut down the rear grippa joints to stop this? has anyone had this problem before?

i was also thinking of fitting durango driveshaft boots like team drivers used at the recent national meet (seen in jimmy's great report) has anyone tried this?

many thanks

Hi Lewis, i've noticed that factory drivers use the long joints but cut by 1.5 to 2mm. It would prevent the shaft from popping out, i think.

Be careful also with the diff height. If you use it on the high position it could also pop out the shaft.

hi lewis
if your running the older style shocks(not big bore) use 3/4 length ball cups on the rear screwed right up and half length ones on the front undone 2-3 turns, if your on big bores u dont need to alter the length on the std ball cups

cheers for the replies guys,

i ask Grant Williams about a good starting setup and he recommended this ball joint mod within this setup. and in the setup he recommended full length ball joints rear and 3/4 ball joints front. i will check my shock lengths but they should be 99mm rear and 85mm front is that a good shock length?

regarding diff height i am running standard diff height so i am not sure that that is?

many thanks

Lewis,
The standard diff position as shown in the manual is the "down" position.
Sorry i have no idea about the right shock length...:(

Good luck for next races!

i think i found the problem,

when i looked at the back end of my car i noticed the right side arm was lower then the left side arm. i checked the shock lengths and they where the same. i turned out my shock tower had twisted and was lower one side then the other, causing the driveshaft to be closer to the edge of the outdrive on one side and not so much on the other. the shock tower has come lose slightly before But i did not know that it could twist abit and put the whole back out.

many thanks
