Had it rolling roaded a few weeks ago at a healthy 171 bhp before NOS. Just need to get the bottle filled and NOS is away

some ones nicked the engine and put a tiny one in instead!! :p

Would love a track car me, but no money to fund it! and darent take the vr-4 on track! If I broke it I wouldnt be able to replace it!

It's only a 1.6 :p
I have a Seat Ibiza gti to get me around during the week, which leaves this open to the track!
Goes pretty well tbh and surprises a few people

with a lot of £ and time
Yeah it is indeed the exact same engine, my original engine blew so i picked up a 1.6 out of an automatic foucs on 48k miles about 18 months ago and its been brill!

Spec:
Blacktop 1.6 engine
Ss4 cams
HD big end bolts
Ford racing puma inlet manifold
4-2-1 stainless Miltek Manifold, de cat and cat back system
Cone air filter
1,7 Puma throttle body, TPS and wiring
1.7 gearbox
Live mapped at Dreamscience
Omex rev limiter and launch control

Iv done loads to it, but thats off top of my head engine wise, rest is chassis, bucket seats, etc.

You willing to say how much that cost? A track car is something I've been thinking about now that we've just got a new track down here.

in total it's cost me about £3500 so far.
That's including purchasing the car.
I could have bought something a lot cheaper to use for track, but when i bought this it was never intended for track.
And i cant see the point in selling it now, so ill just keep it and make it better :D

3.5k is not so bad though, it's got me thinking now. Thanks for that. I saw a new M5 in the barriers at our track and am now rethinking driving on it with my car. He got his mates to drag it onto the public roads outside before he called the insurance company. He looked a bit sick. What's a good starting car to create a good track car if I've got 5k in total for it?

Dont get me wrong, the fez handles awesome and is an awesome track car, however, tuning them is like pissing in the wind.
Iv done all the work on this myself with the help from my old man, so thats saved a fair few £££'s.
i really rate the peugeot 306 gti6's. Pick up a good looked after one for £900 quid.
Or if you wanted to spend the whole budget on one, a renualtsport clio 172/182 is where i would put my money. I wouldnt use a turbo car for regular track use. You could buy a clio, do a few breathing mods and be flying past some higher powered motors.
But for a first track car, id go for something cheaper like the 306 or a phase 1 clio 172. That way, your not going to lose a lot of money if circumstances change and you decide you dont have enough time to do track days etc.
For £3500 i picked up this which would have been perfect for track use, everything was in place if i had got rid of the bling bits:

That was a 1.7 Ford Racing Puma engine, running 155 bhp when i got it.

or 200 when used with this

2nd hand cars are sodding expensive over here and you can't import right hand drive cars either. But as this would only be used as a track car and go places on a trailer I could get something in the UK (rhd is easier to drive faster for me), drive it back then kit it out here. I know the Clios are quick but I prefer the 306 6 speed, depends what I could get I suppose. Good advice, thanks for that. Just thinking about how I'm going to break it to the wife now.

Ah i see, just noticed your location!
I prefer the drive of the 306 too, bags of potential.
