I race a 501X and love it. I also like many of the new 4WD buggies around at the moment. Ive recently traded for a nice Yokomo BX and may think about a shaft drive car. I have always liked the BJ4WE but is the AE B44 the better car. I'd value some genuine input. Thanks-Jason.

They are the same car, the b44 is just the sport version:D

Although northy likes RTR version

So there's nothing more refined on the B44 from the BJ?

I pressume the B44 without carbon plastic and aluminium parts which are on BJ4WE, make a more predictable and more reliable chassis.

Is the B44 is a significant improve of BJ4WE? I think it only depends on driving skill and how driver feel the car on the track...

The Bj4 is a very nice build, i will be trying a few home made mods in the coming weeks but these are not something that come on the b44, the b44 has a weak rear end, where the innercamber links mount, the bj does not;)

How would plastic parts instead of aluminum be more reliable?

perhaps it's a translation thing?

No... I just mean for example: aluminium front bulkhead combine with B4 carbon plastic front arm (BJ4 first release) are less reliable than non-carbon plastic part mounted on B44

OK, but we are talking about the BJ4 WE aren't we? The front arms are more 'plastic' on that.

B44's look smoother over bumpy surfaces and have the improved slipper
but are a weaker car, both seem very matched for lap times, ive got myself a b44 for christmas just mainly because of the price and im not one who has terrific crashes so should cope ok with the plasticy bits :p

mike how u know b44 a weaker car even u haven't drove it yet as i do have a b44 and raced last sunday at teesside and surprised me i expecting a breakage which it hasn't !
Even it been flipped god know how many time and still manage to finish the race.

i bought the b44 as it cheap as agree with u mike.
i am not saying it better than bj4 as it almost twin to each other but one of them might be stronger each way in different area.

The rear inner camberlink ball stud mount (which happens to be part of the top deck) seems weak, I saw two fail on Sunday. It's not a cheap part either!

Is that wot ben riley broke??

lil ben

Lee

No he broke the wall:D

It probably was ben, i think its amazing how people come to the conclusion that a b44 is better over bumps, they both use the same geometry and use the same shocks, and the bj4 is heavier wich would surely aid it over bumps?

The biggest advantage is the slipper.

Maybe so but who uses a slipper in 4wd?

Well if that's what Ben broke then that 3 I know of that failed.

Ding, ding, ding......

Who locks their slipper? It just puts massive pressure on the drivetrain.

What, Grass?:D

And southwell, i agree with you, nobody locks up a slipper but it is never used like a 2wd slipper, its just used to save the drivetrain a bit

erm most people Lee ;) to a degree anyway . its never totally locked up..

Thats the biggest upgrade, the BJ4 one was designed to save the drivetrain, the B44 one is designed for saving the drivetrain and having it to adjust the power delivery , like a 2wd, although its not as important.

Also helps over the bumps.. alot! I've been playing around with the slipper in the oOple D4 for the past few weeks and it's made a massive difference adjusting it track to track.

What B44 bits should one bolt onto a BJ4WE?

Can that new fangled slipper be put on it?

Both cars are World Champions, they're equally good (in different ways).

dude: you gotta tune the slipper each outing. that's one reason 4wd cars rock -- they get tunage up front in the cabin whilst party boyz were sucking light gaz in the pits... The B44 is an awesome race car and a terrible basher.

Please eloborate?!?!

On the subject: I built a B44 with a friend and boy was I glad it wasn't my car. I thought it sort of felt cheap and nasty. Some of the bits were nice but all the plastic felt crap, the carbon had misweaves and bad finish and the wheels are horrible! I have never seen wheels as soft as the new ones that were in the box.

All in all it's ok for the price but miles away from what Associated used to sell. Hope they don't start going cheapo now they are producing in the far east...
