true but it is cheaper than a yokomo bx worlds, predator x11, atomic s4 and of course it has won the uk nationals, aero don't have the backing of horizon or thunder tiger so it will be more than the b44 or xx4

I run a s4 now, the car is sick. As far as I know I was the first 1 n the states 2 get one. Because of the s4, I realy want 2 take the aero for a few runs and compair it to the s4. Because of the price of these few rcs they may never catch on n the states. Which sucks. If the power of the us $ had any real value the 4wd sence n the states would be a lot more competitive forcing companies like losi and other 2 build better products such as what is coming on your side of the world.

The a-1 looks to be a good car to me as well. the design is proven but in my view it looks fragile. I am the 2 of 2 in the states with a s4 and I 2 would like to drive the a-1 for comparison reasons as well. I love my s4 and dont think anything compares to it atleast for my way of driving. It is 2 bad the a-1 is so darn expensive for yankes but guess thats the way it goes.

Hey red, any pics of your s4 or setups? We are the only 2 here in the states with them so maby some knowledge sharing would be cool.

I started with the recommended set up on the web site than made a few changes.
30wt oil n the rear with losi yellow springs. sometimes red springs. middle hole on the rear shock tower.
35wt oil n the front with losi neon green fr springs. middle hole on the front shock tower.where r u from and do u have pics of yours. hit me back later.

3 weeks, not really the answer you were looking 4, but supposedly in 3 weeks time we will all know the answer. Humm so going by the string of it i'll be ready in 3 weeks... since July we will be waiting till 2009!

The above message may contain traces of sarcasm, brought on by the painfully long postponement. In fact I am the only person left at my club who has not jumped ship and bought something else. How many people will be left on that pre-order list?

The delay is unfortunate, but Aero have been doing all they can to get this out as quickly as possible without cutting corners. The MIP driveshafts are the last part they are waiting on, and will be in next week. Everything else is boxed and ready to go. As soon as the shafts are in orders will start being despatched, hopefully at the end of next week.

As far as the preorder list goes, i've been informed it's growing on a daily basis.

Be patient, it'll be worth it, the car looks stunning!!:)

It won't be long now for the Aero A-1.....
Small time delays beyond Aero's control have held them back, but this car will make people go wow!!!!!

The Aero team have spent alot of time working to make this car right and available to everyone with full spares available from the off....

There should be some running over the next few weeks .... keep watching your emails...

Everything has been done by Aero and for a small company they have done very well....

I would love to have had the A-1 for the beginning of the Winter buy i am sure the wait is gonna be worth every uspent penny till now!!!!

Aero have said there will be full spares support when the car is released. Also i dont think cars will have moved on as much as you say, afterall this car won last years national series. Plus from what you are saying the B44 is already old hat as the BJ4 WE has already been out a few years.

I think the aero will be very good when it arrives, its the only car i know of that has been developed on uk tracks in years.;)

I met Danny Claes at our last indoor race and he really is one of the nicest guys I've met in RC. The car is hopefully coming out soon now as the only thing missing are the CVD's from MIP. Of course it looks like a Durango but that has been discussed ad nauseam all over the place already.

I really hope it takes off and I had the money to put where my mouth is :D

I find it cool that there is so much diversity in 4wd this year and that they all seem to go like the clappers :woot:

I think Aero could do with putting out a few photos of the finished car ( May be some but I've not seen any) as this would put peoples mind at rest who are waiting. They appear to be very slow on the PR front. But maybe they have been cought out by the number of people ordering the car.

To be fair there are a lot of pics around of the prototype car, the main change is the plastic chassis, the concept is still the same.

Where can I get info on this kit? Although I have a B44 in the post it is against my spirit, much prefer racing somethng less popular!!

It sounds expensive for a car with aplastic chassis though? Or am I being blinded by carbo bling?

Chris Doughty
30-01-2008, 11:33 PM
don't discount something because its 'plastic'

yes, toys are made from 'plastic'

but plastic is such a wide term for a material, Bob and Danny know their stuff, they would have chosen the material based on performance.

now I have plugged Aero, might as well Plug Atomic Carbon, the upcoming B44 option parts should make your B44 a little more unique

the b4 doesnt perform right until you use a PLASTIC chassis
it is the way to go

DaveG28
30-01-2008, 11:42 PM
Yeah I didn't mean to diss plastic, it just seems for 4wd most cars are carbon with a bottom chassis and top decks! I had an RB5 for a bit though and loved the chassis stiffness on that!

I think one of the reasons Aero use a plastic chassis is it is the only cost efective way to mold sompthing that complex,I suppose they could have used graphite like the losi but I am no expert. but like has already been said the most prefer the B4 with plastic and I have never heard anyone say it week.I think you can get Info on the Aero from there web site, think there is a link on here somewere.

530 Euro's apparently, thats very pricey, although I guess their being hit by the recent change in the exchange rate!

£400 for a kit though, ouch, does anyone more in the know than me have reasons to think this car will be a bit special, it won last seasons nationals didn't it, are some top guys running it again this year?

Lee
31-01-2008, 07:38 PM
All i know is Kev Lee is running it as a team driver in the uk. I assume the team will be small due to it being a small company, like xfactory.

Im sure Aero have "thought" about a 2wd but as we can see they have been very busy and invested a lot of time and money into the 4wd and will want to recoup some of that cash back. If you think about it very few of the manufactures have a 2wd and a 4 wd, even AE have only just released theirs. I think the main thing that will hold aero back as a company is cash flow, as making small batches of cars is very expensive and they will not sell thousands of these cars. I really hope it works for the average joe and im sure it will as it would be great to see something different to a bj4 clone:)

It is a worry, I'm really tempted by the car, and they have come across nicely in emails, but then set against that is the issues around a certain other car during its inception, the fact that as far as I can tell they originally took orders for a release of LAST June, it makes me worry about what is going on.

I thought the only issue they'd have was wqith cvd's but these got delivered a week or so ago now?

franki
06-02-2008, 08:29 PM
i think its more than 150 bud :o however like anything of this nature people will put there name down just for the info and never buy the car !!! then there will be others that have bought other cars, then some that have other money commitments.

I would think they would be doing very well to sell 80 first off???

However if they sold 150-200 on day one then that would be fab for them.

Next monday..... i can picture it....

Aliens land and pick the nose of an old tramp who was laying peacfully under a bridge near paris. He wakes up and gets the shock of his life (the aliens had really long fingers....) In a crazed dash the tramp runs across a nearby motorway and a truck swerves and ends up in the river.

Oh No..... the truck was full of aero's, all the first shipment.....

Just one more week lads.....

woodey
08-02-2008, 08:48 AM
Plausible, but here's what's actually going to happen. Next week, towards then end, based on aero's own timeclock, 5 earth days = 1 aero day, we will hear something, maybe through a deep space listening station, that our cars are now reay to ship. Funny cos I thought this was going to be 2 days after the CVD's arrived in which case I would have already built mine! But the tape that they were going to use to package the boxes is defective and has lost it's stick....... but it's ok cos some more tape has been ordered and it will be there within a few days, to quote a frequently heard expression. Then the tape gets lost in the post, and the only company making it gets hit by a meteor leaving us all waiting for the tape factury to be re-built before we can get our cars:lol:

Ok if I had a hat, then I would be more than happy to eat it if my car gets delivered next week!

How many cars have you seen that didn't come with everything needed or instructions? Only HPI and Kyosho do that. I'm sure Aero is a much better company than them.

DaveG28
09-02-2008, 08:03 PM
I'm not trying to be rude to them or anything, they've been great with me over email, and answered loads of my numpty questions, I just would have thought they'd get lots more of the preorders to turn into full orders if they manage to get the info up! I'd normally say Tamiya are bulletproof for this type of thing, but even they with the 501x worlds suggest dremelling and filing various bits of their cars before you can build them these days (steering on the tourers, chassis and belt adjusters on the offroad), so I am preparing to have to do a fair bit of work to get the Aero working when I take delivery!!!

I'm really supportive of what they're doing, but being a small company I imagine its key for them to get as many of the preorder people to pay up as possible!

HVAC25000
09-02-2008, 08:31 PM
*Long speech, feel free to ignore if you don't care *

I think the A1 will be too simple to need dremeling and filing. Plus since they're starting basically from scratch, and the car has a molded pan assumedly made to their specifications, they should have been able to get everything right without needing modification after. That's probably what took so long to get it ready, lots of little changes, trial and error, r&d, to make sure it's right the first time.

That and whoever is making a particular part (perhaps whatever they're waiting on) is a slacker and can't meet deadlines. I build and sell a product that is primarily molded, like a car tub is, and I know how bad mold shops can be about meeting deadlines. You tell them you need 100 units in 2 weeks, and you know that they can make 100 units in literally 5-6 hours, so they have plenty of time, but 4 weeks later you still don't have your parts. The same applies to any work that is contacted out, machined parts, molded parts, even whoever you are having print your instructions. The further away they are removed from the product, the less they care about the product. I seriously doubt all these delays are Aero's fault.

It's my experience that smaller companies are better than big ones. TTech was a great company. They designed a great car and had great customer support, best I've ever seen. Same for many other small companies, like TOP Racing and the like. But big companies like Losi, AE, Kyosho, HPI, even Tamiya, WORST customer support I've seen in my life. Bad customer support can translate to so many other things, car quality, design, parts support, etc. If they don't even care about addressing their customers' concerns, there's a good chance they don't care about the quality of their products.

If I had the money, I'd preorder an A1 in an instant without seeing anything more than I've already seen because there's no reason for there to be anything wrong with it. My only concern would be the cost of spare arms/carriers and their availability, as long as they don't cost any more than the average and I could order 4 or so of each, I'd be perfectly happy. I've no problem building a car without a manual :)

Of course, given the money I'd preorder an S500 if you could yet, buy an 501x, , get a mr4bx, and any other car out there (except the b44 because it's just a chinese knockoff bj4)

DaveG28
09-02-2008, 11:09 PM
That is a good post actually, and probably a good point around explaining why the deadlines have slipped!

In terms of spares by the way, Aero told me in an email they'll be personally at all the Nationals again this year, plus there should be a UK source of parts, I'm just guessing it may be a month or two before the parts are much available (I think not all the kits will be delivered till late March so can't imagine much spares supply before then).

Having said that, I'm a numpty, I could never build a car without a manual, I've managed to muck up several even with a manual!!

Haha, well some cars really are overly complicated and that can happen. The Mini Inferno is a fine example. That car is twice as complicated as it needed to be. The xx-4s drivetrain is another fine mess. The Aero is a fine example of simplicity, though. At least from what I've seen.

I'm unfamiliar with the term "numpty" though, is there an actual definition? lol

Cheaper than an S4, which is what most people are running now. $100 cheaper by my count.

At least it seems most to me.

I was hoping the price would be a little less cause (give or take $100 to $150 less)
I wanted 2 order 2 or 3 cars @ once. After telling 2 other people the price they have decided 2 go with the b44. Damn this one is a big decision. I guess I won't be moving 2 brushless till later on this year

Guess none of you asked your bank how long it takes for money to be in there account!!!!!

5 days it takes to show up, so sadly you won't be seeing anything as quick as you thought....

Do remember that they are a new and small company starting out, this means that not everything will be as smooth running as we patient people like nowadays!!!!

Oh, and also remember the effort they will put in when you need help at Nationals or by email....

Im in same situation as everyone else, only difference is i asked the questions and got the answers before knocking anyone on a public forum..

It would be nice if they would be a little more like, say, Atomic, though, and actually come on the forums and tell everyone what the hell is going on.

What part do people want to know ????

The first 30 on the pre-order list (Stated on Aero website) received email... Those that confirmed received 2nd email with payment details.

Bank transfer takes around 5 days which is up to you to find out...

Do Losi, Schumacher, Serpent, Kyosho ...... the list goes on, come on here and tell you what they are doing ???

They have a website which has details on, they are trying there hardest to get things up and running.
Cut them a bit of slack and let them get on with packing kits etc..

There isn't a person on these forums that doesn't wish Losi, Schumacher, Serpent, and Kyosho would come and tell us what is going on. My point was Jonathan from Atomic does, and that makes Atomic my favourite company even though I don't have one of their cars. Plus Atomic releases information about new cars pretty quickly, or at least Doughty does.

......but they are Losi fitment

Who else makes Losi fitment wheels (except Losi, I can;t find their wheels anywhere though)!? Hoping to have my Aero soon and may want to get some sets of tyres use out of it before the spares are available!?

I think AE have done some for the b44, yokomo will fit too, you may have to space these though, and JConcepts have the rulux wheels.
