Here's an observation,

I watched a few races last night, and can't help but notice how caught up even relatively new drivers are becoming with having the best/fastest kit, often to the detriment of the racing as they struggle to handle vastly overpowered/spec'd cars.

The issue of learning to race seems to be being missed, and that troubles me, as a large part of the fun in this game is good clean racing.

Perhaps we need to dumb things down a bit. One idea might be to limit the 'stock' class to zero timing advance - easily achievable with the current crop of speed controllers. Currently most of the 17.5 'A' group run SP, LRP or EZ run with everything maxed out. Even me! Yes it's fast, but that needs to be backed up with the skills to race cleanly at that pace.

I know of at least two racers who still run 27t stock motors against the 17.5 brushless with a great deal of success.

Spending many hundreds of pounds on a chassis/motor/esc/servo really isn't neccessary at a club level, and I'm sure we're missing out on a lot of fun by simply slowing things down a touch. I'm sure many mums and dads would agree when faced with £80-90 for a battery, £60-70 for a motor etc, etc.

I think we're approaching a watershed, and it needs some thought...

cheers
