Run in association with CML Distribution and MK Racing, the Fastrax GP will run a control tyre of Fastrax Turf Ripper 1/10th tyres. Each entrant will receive a full set of tyres to run.

The Day will consist of 4 qualifying rounds based on round by round scoring system, followed by single finals with a 3 legged A Final in both buggy classes.

Trophies will be presented to the first 3 in each final. Special awards to the best Under 16 and best under 12 competing in the Adult classes.

The on site café will be open serving hot food as well as healthy fresh sandwiches and baguettes.

This is a one day event and no camping facilities will be available.

Neil, will supplied the control tyres be mounted on a rim or will we need to sort those out ourselves?
James

Dudders
13-05-2011, 02:41 PM
Hey James,

As you'll imagine hand out wheels as well as tyres would be a nightmare due to the many manufacturers that will be represented on the day, therefore its 'tyres' only.

I will have supplies before the day itself if you wanted to collect yours early, not a problem. On the day MK Racing will have hubs and inserts to suit most cars.

Either keep a set free or ask Mark to reserve you some. Reports on these tyres on grass is generally very positive so I think you'll be keeping them on for a while ;)

See you Tuesday

Some inserts are soft, some are firm. Firm ones allow the tyre to stay more rigid.

How many?, well I've been a little overwhelmed to be honest and it's looking like all places will go before the day (hopefully), we're up to half numbers in 2 and 4wd in just over 36 hours. The short course interest is lacking but that will come .

Hi Dobber,

Fastrax is at 1/2 numbers for two and four wheel drive. So if you want to come i'd guess you'll need to pre book asap. Short Course will take longer to fill / one heat may become 2/4wd.

As for Tuesday's it's dark by 9.00pm so you'll be done by then. Look likes it'll work with your shifts ;)

UPDATE:

I have decided to add a special Junior class to the days events. This is aimed at novice young drivers, kids who cant really compete with the adults in terms of track presence and racing lines etc.

This will be open to any form of 1/10th off road buggy/truck/monster truck/truggy etc. Bascially it can be what they run in the back garden.

The general point of view is to get them racing at a meeting to feel part of it and get experience under there belt.

I know they'll be at least 4 already in this class (aged 5,5, 8 and 10 years) so feel free to bring your youngsters along.

Please let me know if you would like your son/daughter to enter

Dudders

Outlaw Class:

Due to demend (and lack of!) the Short Course Heats have been changed to 'Outlaw Class'. This can be ANY Truggy or Truck in 1/10th scale

With this change we can field at least one heat, maybe 2

05-06-2011, 05:09 PM
Ok, just an update:

There will be 2wd and 4wd classes running that will be on FASTRAX CONTROL TYRES only at the Fastrax GP on June 19th.

There WILL be a Short Course / Truggy race due to the numbers now booked in.

There WILL also be a Junior / Novice class running on the day, this is after the successful running of today's heat. IF YOUR CHILD WANTS TO RUN IN THIS CLASS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Novice class will be reduced entry and on any tyres to save on costs.

So it will be a busy day with 4 class being run.

Cafe WILL be open from early doors serving all food and drinks (Hot and Cold).

Full format will be published in due course.

Neil,

Is the current track layout what will be run on the 19th?

Thanks.

Dudders
05-06-2011, 07:33 PM
Hi,

No, not the full layout. There will be an extension added and also a revised layout with a little track work to do done next week.

(What's your trouble anyway, you ROCKED it at the last shootout round )

Think its only fair we change it a bit ;)

kartdemon
05-06-2011, 07:40 PM
No probs with current layout at all. Just curious if it was to be changed in advance, as it would be nice to have a practice in advance on a new layout.

So sounds like we will have a day or so to do this.

On the track work, the only think I believe needs doing is something for the straight so 2WD cars can nail it a little more and the entry to the straight. Either way not fussed as it is the same for everyone. But would make it easier to drive that section for some drivers.

Otherwise

Dudders
05-06-2011, 07:45 PM
That's EXACTLY to area's that I'll be working on next week after the Shootout round in prep for the weekend of the 19th.

First corner and last corner will be reworked smooth or repaired. I might need to fill/compact/seed and cover with a small piece of astro for the racing and then uncover afterwards to settle. So yes, both those area's will be sorted, I love a bit of welly too!.

The track will also be a little bit longer which should help ;)

andyroooo
05-06-2011, 08:49 PM
Maybe think about burying some chicken wire over the areas that cut up badly for the grass to grow through. We did that at a previous club and that helped the situation immensely :D

Dudders
05-06-2011, 08:52 PM
Great idea Andy. Sounds like hard work though :lol::lol:

kartdemon
05-06-2011, 09:03 PM
Even though it is advertised as grass track, would still be a good to have a little Astro Turf as a permanent feature and for variety.

Ori.

andyroooo
05-06-2011, 11:59 PM
Not really, you dont have to dig it in, just peg it down with wire loops about the same thickness as coat hanger wire and the grass will grow through it. Doesnt have to be everywhere, just the areas that break up like the braking bumps on the first corner. A bit flat out building cars at work at the moment but always willing to pop down and give you a hand with some track maintainance for a few hours when I have some spare time

Thing is with our track, it rewards a clean and tidy driver. You cant attack it as it wont be rewarding. Which is why Adam does well with the mad rat, its easy to control on the track and not make mistake.

Hey Neil,
Hows the track draining after all this rain... Clearing up a bit now, but will the exposed earth be turning to mud during tom, or do you think it'll drain away and dry out ok?

Still looking forward to it!

I think it'll be quite dry come tomorrow, popping down tonight so I can update.. The ground drains stupidly well which is nice and times but then not so good for grass :eh?:

The track might be sponging but there is zero chance of any mud anywhere on site and possibly the track. Some bear area's might tear up but we'll deal with that as and when, plenty of astr to pop down on the odd corner after a round :)

Blimey! What a day!, where to start!. Well, all seems a bit blurry now but arrived trackside at 6.15am to set you, Rasey rolled up around 7.00am closely followed by Marc Knight from MK Racing. Let the hoards in at 7.30am and then it all went a bit crazzzzy!!!

MASSIVE thanks M K Racing and Marc Knight for the support and advice given out today, certainly makes it all a bit easier having a voice of experience speak when asked. Also, MASSIVE BIGGUP to Rob Rasey. Thanks for your Mic help, certainly enjoyed my little breaks!.

Highlights? SUNSHINE!, Novice Racers, track holding up and hopefully all the racers going away happy and having a ncie time. VERY competitive field across the board, thanks all for turning up

Finally, thanks to Jason @ CML for the Fastrax Sponsorship, big effort for them to put their name to a club only 3 months old :woot::woot::woot:.

Hoepfully, we can look forward to a 2012 Fastrax GP!
