Not to worried about getting hit from behind but knowing a few big tumbling crashes would mangle the rear of the $$$$ body....
I went to the LHS and picked up a couple parts, I have no idea what truck they are for, they just looked right.

fabbed an upper mount

bolted the lower

and viola ! a big ass rear bumper, save the body and no need for rear weights

It's not fully sorted, I need to heat the lower mount to flatten it so it fits more snugly against the chassis and countersink the chassis along with some proper screws, find some better material for the upper fabbed piece and take a bit more care making it, and the whole upper and lower is a bit "tweaked" some heat in the right places and some gentle massaging should make it near perfect. Please disregard the shitty prototype gear dirt guard.

Success.... ran yesterday and was airing it out on 1/8th scale jumps and crashing big time (hey, it's fun, getting big air that is) and the bumper held up perfectly, the body was hardly beat at all. new pic shows the shape of the lower support and the damage from 2 full packs. Our local track is very rough, big bumpy holes and full of rocks, hence all the damage.

Looks good mate. I think with it bracing onto the rear tower however i'd suggest upgrading the gearbox inserts to the metal versions since a big impact will pull on these inserts and break them - which could in turn break the bulkhead too.
