Just building up a 511 (again) and ive come across something ive never noticed previously.

The diff pulley (37T) seems to have 4-6mm of side to side movement when in place. The unit as a whole isnt moving, just the plastic gear itself. It seems to be moving laterally on the balls and doesnt seem to be slipping at all.

Question is, is it designed to be like that and act as a "floating" type pulley or is something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Have you cut the lugs off the pulley jamie? if so it will do this, or are they supplied without them now maybe? Dont panic it will be fine, all mine were like that;)
Have you kitted your diffs out with the nuclear diff seals? top tip!!

Cheers Andy, yeah i cut the notches as per Lee's guide. I did suspect they were floating type pulleys.

Ive ordered a load of diff covers of Belsten which should be arriving tomorrow, no doubt a set will end up on my car.lol

You up Taly on the weekend mate?
