Just opened up my new SP V3 8.5 motor and was a bit surprised/disappointed to see that it had vents in the can!

I thought the 7.5 ad 8.5 came with solid cans - and the solid can was one of the reasons why I chose the motor to mount in the back of my B4.

So, does anyone know whether these motors are coming with vents now, or whether mine may have been assembled wrong at the factory.

Three 8.5's I know to have solid cans without vents. Does yours have a blue sticker like these or red like some winds I've seen in photo's?

It has the correct blue sticker but the *wrong* kind of can.

I think I will have to get in touch with the shop/Schumacher tomorrow.

I thought that all the V3's had holes in the cans?

I saw a 7.5 with holes in the can on sunday. I've had 2 and both have had solid cans for me. I thought it was weird too

Did you purchase it from Hong Kong? My 7.5 arrived with a vented can :)

my 6.5 in my durango has a vented can, my 8.5 for the Cougar has a solid can...

Originally speed passion made the 7.5/8.5 with a solid can to stop dirt getting in when used in rear motor off road cars, but some of them seem to be coming through vented now.

No, ordered in from Schumacher for me during the week by MMR.

maybe they decided they were getting too hot, something I can't say I've had personally.

or helps them keep costs down by standardizing on a single can design...?

This motor seems a popular choice to use with the STOCK software on SP ESC's - perhaps the vented can is a good thing in light of this...?

Personally, I always got more crud stuck inside the solid can of my 7.5 than the vented can of my 6.5...
