I am very curious and would like to know more about them (I have ordered a 6.5t and I am waiting for it)

We only had them arrive here in the country this week, early testing has been excellent with them and the spec and features are very good too. Also at a very keen price too......

Motors have been sent to several team drivers this week and as of yesterday they are BRCA legal too so we could see some in action from this weekend onwards.

Some first information about them here: http://www.area52.cc/reviews/923-sneek-peek-vampire-racing-type-ab-brushless-motors.html

We have yet to try them on the track. :woot:

These are planned for later in the year, so yes.

I've received mine !

seems good but Can you give me an idea about the gearing ratio for the 6.5t please ?

After 15min I have noted 70°C. so it stays quite cool:D with my b-max (87t spur and 19t pinion)

I ran mine for the first time at Kidderminster national this weekend and was VERY impressed :D

The gear ratios I ran were

2wd 8.5 motor = 8.4 / 1
2wd 7.5 motor = 9.2 / 1
Note this was on a very tight technical layout, I would run the same gearing say indoors but be +1 tooth on what I would call an average outdoor track.

4wd 7.5 motor = 8.5 / 1
4wd 6.5 motor = 9.3 / 1 (anticipated but not actually ran)
The Sunday track was more open so I think this could be already my average outdoor track gearing.

I hope to run again this weekend so will update anything I find out after then.

Dan

The current Type AB+ motors have been nothing short of superb, across all winds and classes, and the new Type AB+ V2 versions (which are due here in the next two weeks) promise to be even better, without breaking the bank to do so.

With the likes of Darren Bloomfield, Ellis Stafford, Rich Lowe and more all running them here in the UK, they are sure to be well represented too....

I've just started running these and I'm very impressed  Previously I've run both Speed Passion and Reedy and the Vampire motors are better (esp when combined with the SR1+ speedos).

There are some top UK names running them this year too, which must speak volumes for their performance and quality.

Ran mine for nearly 2 years now, still on original ones and never once had a problem.

In conclusion they've been excellent!

A smashed rotor usually means at some point the motor may have been dropped or similar (maybe even before you even owned it, maybe in transit), if you contact the dealer you got it from they will deal with it for you straight away under warranty I would guess

I received a replacement rotor this week and although it looked really different I installed it and gave it a gently run.

8.5T motor inside on a small track, I was thinking about turning the settings down...

I went outside to our long straight and all I can say is WOW what a motor. I didn't feel the need to go up in pinion or alter any esc settings.

Really impressed, can't wait to try the 5.5 in the 410, hopefully with a full working rotor.

Thanks

Sven is hoping to launch the new website in May...

In the meantime I will email Ellis and Dave Orbell for their suggestions since they both run the DEX410 and will ask them to post a reply for you...

I'd go with a 20 or 21 pinion on an 87 spur for a 5.5 in the 410, just depends how you drive really to what pinion. Start on the 21 but if its getting too hot just drop it to a 20.

Thanks for the replys Ill try that next time out.

Have there been much experimenting with a smaller spur?

I tried it with an R10 on "stock software" and I got 1/3 of the straight and it was topping out. Put in a Trinity 7.5 with same everything and got about 1/2 way and topped out.

Both were doing well in the infield

I have now upgraded to "mod" software but Im not sure if that will help.

Thoughts?
Timing on VR motor was at stock in the middle.
