I have noticed that my motor + esc are pretty warm after running them, whats a good (acceptable ) working temp for them?

75-85 degrees??

you don't want to be going much hotter than that if you can help it. My GM speedo runs about 35 up to 45 deg outdoors on a hot day, the motor is considerably hotter than that at about 60 up to 85 deg.

The cutout temp on my speedo is 100 deg so I assume GM think it's safe up to that temp.

LRP / Nosram motors run very hot compared to others without damage apparently.

Hope this helps

sorry losi 6.5 motor and have a LRP 7.5 that I will test
LRP esc and a NOvak GTB esc
I haven't run the novak yet.
Im on astro running a 84/20 84/19
comeseethis recommends a 16/17/18 pinion, they are on their way hopefully tomorrow.
But the others that were at the track yesterday had about the same temps, some motors real hot to the touch

I did do nearly 2 lipos in a row ant the temp was still around 85

sounds fine to me then. The LRP will run hot, but they like it that way. 2 lipo's in a row will certainly give it a good test! lol

As a matter of interest I geared mine up last night and it actually ran cooler, which I didn't expect

gear up meaning another tooth in the pinion or go down in spur size?

up one pinion, can only assume it was revving slower down the straight or something, it's not that usual to run cooler when gearing up

if your esc runs hotter than your motor you need to gear up, if your motor runs hotter than your esc than you should gear down.

ideally you want your speedo and motor to run at similar temps.

hope this helps.
