Friggin New Guy here. Hello everyone! So I just bought my first real Rc today a DEX410 brand spanking new! And a savox servo, thunder power 6.5T brushless motor and a dx3r pro to go with it. Yay! And surprisingly my wife came with and didnt get mad, being the fact that I spent well over $1000! She just said don't ask for anymore isht. I gladly said ok, but in my mind I said I still need saddle packs. So being the new guy here I have plenty of questions so bear with me.

1. is anyone running this thunder power 6.5T and how do they run?

2. What range of pinions should I start with?

3. I have a spare mamba max pro with a 1406 (5700kv 4pole) will I be able to put this in the 410 or will it not fit?

4. Can i use my MMP esc with the thunder power motor?

5. Is racers edge a good lipo for the 410?

Hi mate,
The 6.5 motor you mention should be ideal - I use a 6.5 myself in the DEX410R.

Gearing wise - I'll generally use between 21-23T depending on track size. Get a 21t pinion and go from there.

Not sure what the mamba max pro is like tbh but I've heard good things and yes it should work sensored with the 6.5 - I wouldn't use whatever motor you mentioned, it doesn't sound very 'racey' :) Probably way too much power.

You'll have to link to the racer edge lipo and its specs - you need to make sure it's roar / efra legal in terms of dimensions.

there are quite a few locals that use the Thunder Power motors and have alot of success. in the review of the TLR 22 on Horizon they use it and it as you can see it runs good. there are only a handful of manufacturers so chances are slim you'll get a bad motor from anywhere.

Pinions I would have 19-22 available.
I use 20 mostly but 19 for tight tracks and 21-22 for bigger outdoor tracks.

Not sure about the electrics I only have used LRP

Thanks guys and sorry it was actually a 5.5T not 6.5T so I guess the pinions range would change right? Or is 21- 23T? Ill be runnin it on a outdoor medium/ large track.

I just wanted to know if the 550 motor would fit so I can just mess around?
Castle says it's for 1/10 scale. And I'm going to use the thunder motor for actual track.

Does anyone know what the stock spur gear is?

Stock spur is 87 teeth. A 540 size motor is a tight fit so wouldn't imagine a 550 will fit.

you may want to try and cut your teeth on a higher turn motor like a 10.5 as a 5.5 for a beginer in a dex410 could be quite unforgiving

I'm not gonna just go balls to the wall with it ima take it slow like love makin. Lol. The guy even gave me 2 free track passes he's the man! Ima practice nice and easy and try to get the feeling of it. Do I need to hook up my BEC to this? And whats a transponder and do I need it? What shock oil should I do? The guy at my lhs sold and recommended 35 for the front and 30 in the rear I believe they're Losi oil.
