New Project - 2WD!!

Well ive not had a good project for a while.

So here we go...

I currently have 4WD's DEX410 & D4
I have enough spares to build 3 cars over.
So i'm looking to make something unique.

Its going to be a mish mash of parts with a few custom bits i think.

I'm going to base it on a carbon chassis, like the D4 with the lipos at the back side by side. And maybe keep the motor position of the D4. Hopefully running a Durango gear diff.

Well they are my first thought? Anyone think i should add anything?

I dont think you should add anything. I would take the Gear diff out though.

The car you describe is very similar to Atomic Carbons early 2wd prototypes and and the B44 based car that Dave Burton (RudeBits) runs ... both have been seen to work well.

I'm with Ben, loose the gear diff.

Do you know where I could find any more info on these?
There will not be much change to the rear, more so the front.

Best front end solution is pretty much to graft one from a B4 onto it.

The problem i can see is the B4 uses a kickup chassis.

you can fit a b4 front end on to flat carbon chassis using the gt2 nose cone, it's a bit like ac did with the cr2 front

The chassis is flat ally so the front end bolts directly to a flat surface.

I'm going to buck convention and suggest you use the gear diff and control slippage with the slipper clutch, call me the weird one but I just don't think a differential based 100% on the friction between tiny steel (or carbide or ceramic) balls and a very very smooth, flat piece of metal. you can't really run the diff loose without burning it up from all the slippage, but if you set it tight enough to not slip, it's quite likely that it will be tighter than you really want it for optimal traction. on dirt, this probably doesn't matter quite as much since the inside rear tire will just slip a bit to make up for the diff, but at the same time there's the shock loads the diff will be put through when landing from jumps. just something to consider
