As some of you may know Worksop's 1/10th outdoor venue closed down several years ago for a period but reopened around 2 years ago as a rallycross venue.

We are going to continue racing rallycross there as long as there is a demand.
We have recently teamed up with a new small but great bunch of volounteers from Custom Built Racing who are going to continue improving the venue throughout 2008 and run meetings including 2 EMNORCS and around 8-10 club meetings.
We are still going to operate as an independant venue as 'Blyth'.

We are looking for volounteers to strengthen our existing committee and help with track maintenance/construction so please get in touch if you are interested.

WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO BRING TENTH RACING BACK TO BLYTH

but cannot do it without your help. This will most likely be a brand new track at the same site because it will take time to bring the main track upto the quality required for 1/10th offroad, so our idea is to utilise the large astroturf area adjacent that has mainly been used for pitting on in recent years, we also require a new rostrum, track marking and possibly race control.
All those who are interested please get in touch and hopefully we can design and build another first class circuit with some of the best facilities..

We have always had the strength of a permanent, secure, large and easily accessible venue with no problems with neighbours, good toilet facilities, power, water, access to farm equipment for earth moving etc, we just need volounteers to help make the club something to be proud of.

Any thoughts, comments appreciated

I'd be willing to help with wok if I'm around/available.

Best thing would be to try and get a container, then you are sorted for both race control and rostrum.

Great news, I always loved the 10th track!

I could lend a hand :D Will it possibly be back on the NE regional series?

NE or ME will have to see..? We would't be running on the original track until (hopefully oneday) its levelled and mainly astro'd, the 8th cars have rutted the grass/dirt up really badly.
Would be on a new track next to original, the other side of the hut, we ran regionals on there but many, many years ago.. currently flat, it needs some features, well it needs everything bar astro..:wtf:

I can help. I think cut up badly is an understatement there are potholes that swallow up rallyX cars

I'm talking like 18/19 years ago, the track started off on that side on flat grass :eh?: , but yeah very rarely used, I remember Rambo's leg went straight through the rostrum floor at one meeting!

James, this all sounds good news for the ME region and tenth off road racing in general.

Is the new club you speak of Muzzys club who are hosting Worksop indoors? or some eighth lads?

Tony and co from custom built racing are going to upgrade the main track, they also have all the timing gear (which is perhaps the hardest part to find) etc and will be running rallyx meetings which is excellent news.

Theyre not really into tenth at the moment but are interested and would like to get involved

They are willing to run the 1/10th meetings, i would really like to build some regular volounteers/commitee up and have a fully formed Worksop Outdoor / Blyth club in the long run.. just like Worksop indoors which is obviously going from strength to strength..

The first work party from custom built racing / deerdale came to the track last sunday - i cant believe what a big improvement the band of 4 people made in one day, track looks so much better already, thanks to Tony and all involved

It should be runnable for 1/10th when all work is completed - you could get one round part of it now which i may very well try before long ;)

Think theres a few folks going up this sunday too - its worksop indoor but if anyones not going sure they'll be glad to see you up at Blyth..

When we've got a bit more astro down and its a sunny day i'll get some pictures up to show the improvements..

First meeting is easter sunday - an EMNORC round for rallyx if anyones interested, better get entries in quick though, we had 90+ to it last year :)

Bugger if id have known I would have come. I have just emailed Tony some pictures of some stuff we are getting rid off from work. There are going to be tables etc later but for now there are metal frames etc which will need a good home.
