View Full Version : York Indoor Regional

We have a meeting last night to sort this out.

One thing that people need to be aware of:

We will not be allowing people to have large open holes in thier shells that either:

a) allow a fan to protrude outside of the shell

or

b) allow a marshalls finger to go inside the shell and get caught on a fan.

I have noticed (while marshalling - ouch! ) that this is becoming more and more common. If this applys to your car then please fix it before York Regional, we will have a scrutineer at all times on race day that WILL fail your car.

This is a BRCA rule.

Thanks,

Graham

Now get your entries in! :D

What about holes that do not have a fan protruding/inside of them? Just mine has a big hole in the side but there isnt a fan on any more.

Also, any chance fo a post code? :D

Technically, the holes you make in the shell should only be made where the moulding is marked to be cut. This is an Efra rule, not sure if it is a BRCA rule.

I think G is more concerned about safety, than penalising someone for having a hole which causes no harm.

are novak L motors allowed??
Nope not yet for BRCA meetings :(

Northy
14-01-2008, 09:09 AM
The BRCA homologation lists are updated on a Monday usually, so if they go on there today then they will be allowed, if not then no. Sorry.

I heard they are in the process of being homologated though.

LEGEND
16-01-2008, 04:56 PM
So what you are saying is that you need a huge wall of death. I can remember the one at teesside. IU managed to hit the roof with both my 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive.:cool::D

josh_smaxx
16-01-2008, 05:04 PM
Ye, we want one awesome jump that gives the car great air, has time gained from landing it properly but needs some balls to launch the cars properly  wall of death would be great mind. I wanted a crossover at teesside last week :(

EDIT: well, we want more than one jump, lots of small ones aswell, make sure its still recognisable as offroad.

LEGEND
16-01-2008, 05:09 PM
Yes a bridge sort of jump would be great but i am not expecting it, it just makes it a little more fun to marshall as-well.:D

ben
16-01-2008, 05:12 PM
Erm i didnt mean a jump like teesside had. Full throttle and land it somewhere near the landing:rolleyes::rolleyes: I mean big jumps which need throttle control and you need to hit a landing:) At a club meeting we had a semi wall of death because their was loads of table with fold out legs so we just folded out one set of legs was good.

Ben

josh_smaxx
16-01-2008, 05:17 PM
Something as big as teesside but needs more skill, make it more interesting ect, at teesside there wasnt exactly much time gained from full throttling it and it wasnt exactly hard to land. My ideal jump would be like a triple but in the floor, like 3 bumps, wide enough apart not to clear in one and close enough together not to get a good run up for the next followed by a good, long table top then one more bump right after it so you need to land it correctly or it could end up in a bad accident. Just my £0.02 :)

Heres my little attempt at a track design, i tried to keep it flowing, yet techincal and not flat out (well, maybe it is abit). I have never been to YORCC and dont know what the track is noramlly like/what is expected.

Ah, the good old "long obstacle thing with maybe a triple ect". I'm sure I raced on a track years ago that had a brilliant one of those, great feature!

I'm also a fan of tracks that include "some form of bumps or another jump". Just not enough of that kind of obstacle in modern tracks, it's a real shame :)

Doesn't take much skill to just full throttle up a big jump and hope for the best, will make the track track better if theres a skill to landing the jump correctly but that doesn't mean it still can't have big air.

Track was indeed ace - I will do a lil report and put it online tomorrow. Sorry not many trophy photos but everyone ran off. :)

Chrislong

Shame it ran so late, but on a positive note, we all missed those Donkey's Dancing on Ice or whatever they do on ITV3... LOL. Nothing to miss on TV, just a Sunday roast..

Track was ace. Lots to do per lap, but not too much. nothing was not do-able without car control and plenty of concentration. Well done to York club for that.

Shame about the lights, but nevermind, was just one of those things, was a pure accident. Would have been annoyed if it had been a kid larking around unsupervised though, as they are, and they shouldn't be  (i'll bring my cage)

Josh, practice makes perfect my friend, racing on tracks like this will only help you get better, racing on easy tracks will be of no benefit atall. I was watching you go around and I can't help but wonder if you have as much control as you think holding the tranny like that.... your choice ofcause, but I got to say it.... please do try a more conventional way and see if you can work with that better (i.e. not just 1 go and dismiss it)

I thought the track was great, nothing on there really difficult but if you lost concentration it was easy to crash.

Thanks for those yellow springs Chris, i think they might be cursed though as i broke 2 wishbones with them on. lol

Your welcome Rob, I did spot the breakages, I'll have the springs exorcismed before next use ;)

WELL DONE MATT! never seen you drive so well, the track was great and very well thought out, I enjoyed the day very much despite loosing my concentration in both the 2wd and 4wd finals after leading them for abut half the races then just totally lost it haha ohwell I know i can do better, I was so tired by the finals lol :D Sorry i couldn't stay to help clear the track away, was forced to go home...:( Well done to everyone today and thanks for all the the support from race control, Scrutineers, Refs, track repair and anyone else i've missed out haha:D thanks to all for a great day

Maybe for you, but i cant drive for nout with sticks, its personal opinion.

I'll give it a go holding it normally for sure, would take me a while to even get close to the level i am now, never mind any better :p

how do u hold the transmitter then

Chris Harte
21-01-2008, 05:41 PM
With the throttle in your right hand then then tilt if forward and steer with the left hand.

josh_smaxx
21-01-2008, 05:54 PM
Ye, what Chris said, hold it n right hand, sort of lean it over and steer with left, only way i can drive but i suppose it could be holding me back so i might be able to improve from correcting it.

Hey Josh, it looked to me like you knew exactly where you wanted the car to go, but you responded slowly and held steering on too long for corners. You can't be getting complete control as it seems you know where the car should be going, its just not going there.

When i hold a tranny, within a few corners of the race starting I forget I am holding it, the thumbs move and the car goes & I just think about where I want it to go. Second nature.

I did feel like i was driving like an idiot yesterday mind :eh?: im hoping that i can improve on that, if not then i will have to try and convert to holding it the old fashioned way :D its all a learning curve and trial and error for me.

He uses a steerwheel transmitter, trigger with right hand, twisted down infront of him so the steerwheel is pointing forward and steers with left hand. Aerial pointing accross the rostrum at waist height.

I was talking to chris whilst josh was racing his 2wd final, what i dont get is what possessed you in the first place to hold the transmitter like this? I just cant see it feeling "natural" as chris says, and i understand what he means, your thumbs just do what your head tells them.

Can some one show me the way to the Indoor finals entry form please.

I dont know, ever since i played with RC cars (toys) that came with a steer wheel i only ever held them like that, never thought of a different way, my first hobby grade car came with steer wheel which i held like that and so on, i have tried it the normal way three times, first time i crashed my nitro moster truck in a neighbours car which he wasnt happy about, second time i broke my B4 and the third i hit someone else and broke there car, so with the track record behind me i never tried it again :p maybe i should try it again.
