i need some help shimming my new one way. i had it running and it was makin a almost metal grinding noise. so i have taken it apart and there is some plastic stavings in there from the gearbox casing where the screws had been goin around. has anyone had this problem and where did they put shims so i can modify mine

You need 6 shims on the gear side, and none on the other side.

that wont fit and anyways it would push it far to close to the idler gear if i did that

That's what is says with the instructions with mine, i guess there must be a rolling change. On the TC3 gearbox's on the BJ4 it was one shim each side.

its the screws that hold the gear on the shaft that are too long from the looks of it. is there a shim that should go behind the gear 2 keep the screws out abit? or do they just have to wear a section out the gearbox then they wil be fine. im running with one shim atm on the back side of the gears shaft

Are you guys referring to the NTC3 hard front one way? I have one on the way and it would be nice to know how it should be spaced once I get it! :)

You adjust the shims so the mesh is correct. This is a skill you must learn if you want to run a reliable shaft drive car.

With mould tolerances, and wear taken into account (you can re-shim during the gears life to make them last longer) not all cars will be the same.

Just had a look at the sheet that came with the one way (P/N 1728) and it says "Fits: Nitro TC3 - B44". And it shows the different amount of shims needed for the NTC3 and B44.

Attached a photo which may help ;)
