Nah mate I dont wanna scratch it or somet! I feel bad using someone elses car for review like.

I could probably buy one from the USA, review it, and sell it for what I paid for it. I did that with the XX4 - but at one point I had around 700-1000 pounds tied up in review cars !!!! crazy! so I dont do that any longer. I only review stuff I get help with.

but at a cost of around £200, or close to that anyway,
inc import duty we saved almost a quart of that cost, and althougth i would love to support more uk shops, a saving of £50 or so thats spares for 3-4 months

The Jconcepts shell on Pauls looks like the one Losi did before the BK2, but the name of it has gone, something like the arse-bandit or somet like that.

I like the new CR shell as much as the BK2 shell. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, its just equally likeable but less similiar.

it isn't as simple as that.

You have your import duty first.......
Then the total of your goods and import duty are added together, then they calculate the VAT....

Oh, and then ParcelFarce charge you a handling fee of about £15-£20

Reading quickly through, if it is classed as toys, then the max is 4.7%

So, £372x4.7%= £389.48

VAT, £389.48x17.5% = £457.64

Total Tax is £457.64 - £372 = £85.64

So, you may have to stump up £85 plus handling fees.

Hope they marked them as gifts.... I know I got it when I had kits and spares in one parcal.

Putting my "work" head on for a minute.......

DCM is spot on with the duty / vat calculation, however I do have one point. It would be even cheaper if you were to declare them as "Reduced-size (scale) model assembly kits, working or not, excluding trains". Then they would come in duty free but still incurring vat. If anyone needs it, the customs tariff number for this description is 950320 10 00.

DCM
04-07-2006, 09:25 AM
it was a tad late to go delving in, lol, but that is useful to know, so do you ask the vendor to put that on the invoice?

I like my XXX Hybrid, which is very close to CR spec and will be getting all CR bits next week ready for the National.

It's a bit of a half way house for me. I never liked how loose the B4 back end felt, and how it would suddenly jump 3 inches off line in the middle of a corner for no reason. When I tried my BK2 at Batley the back end was planted, but the thing didn't steer enough. The Hybrid (CR) retains a planted back end but with more steering, just what I wanted.

I have also come to the conclusion that for a long time I have had too much steering, now I'm dialing it out a little I'm able to drive harder and more consistant (both 2 and 4wd). I just need to drive even harder now!

I am different, I much prefered the way the Blade went on a flat grass track, it just went to peices on a rutted track. My experience of Losi was with an original XX which would snap hub carriers for just no apparent reason.

I got a BK2, and it seems to have the same 'billion' settings as the XX, which when you aren't racing regular, is just to much to learn.

bigred5765

dud, I have seen the rear hubs, and man, there are nearly as many holes in one hub as the whole of the rear of the B4.....

I do think the BK2 is a quicker car, but I could never make it consistent and quick.... where as the B4... erm, it just goes.
