Temple Park is probably less than 5 miles further than Nissan works if you are coming from down south! Hardly makes any difference to the journey. No reason not to come:cool:

I don't know what the arrangements will be this year but I have raced there in the past and it is a nice, big venue. I'm looking forward to it!

chrispattinson
21-01-2008, 01:04 PM
What do you mean "Nice Move????"

As Sosidge has said, it is only another 5 minutes to the new venue in the North East regional series. I can't see why anyone would want to complain about a NE regional being in the NE???

And as previously stated, it is a venue that held the world championships, so it should be a great day.

nobby
21-01-2008, 01:11 PM
as chris said it's only 5 min's away from nissan.
people tend to forget we travel to bury when they used to hold outdoor reg's.

so just get there you'll love this venue and the track will be very good.

Where's your commitment Carl!! You need to move house. Its a small price to compete in all the N/E regional series :p Wait till Berwick put in for their outdoor N/E regional:o

Not sure if i will be going now as its too far to travel:D. Another thing is that Shields is full of inbetweenies. Dont know if they are Black and White or sorry to say this but Red and White! Just kidding. This meeting will be a great day im sure. Please dont change your mind about attending just because it isnt at Nissan this year, as we (most Newcastle based drivers) travel mega distances to most indoor Regionals and Outdoor Regionals.

Probably because about four of the people on this thread (myself included) live with 15 minutes of South Shields (although I live on the GOOD side of the river ;) ) and we KNOW that the Nissan factory is not far!

Honest Carl - even with my driving, Temple Park is 5-7 minutes from Nissan at the very most, AND you get to pass a McDonalds too... score!

brill,
but i cant under stand why what ever site i use tells me the new place is 162.3 miles from my house, when i know from experience that the Nissan place is 144 miles, 3 sites and my sat nav all agree weird guess its a AM start then for us,

So what sort of carpet will you be using. Will it be the usual super high grip stuff? Is their going to be more than one jump this year?

Northy
23-01-2008, 07:23 PM
I have a few of questions:

How big is the pitting area?

What time do the doors open?

Is electric available?

Who should I email the booked in driver database to (it is quite a big file)? As I don't think I'll be there at 8 as it's a 2 hour drive for me.

Cheers,

G

notlawnomis

To answer some of the questions!

Ben, You'll have to wait and see.

G, Basically we have 2 sports halls to use, and a third if no-one books it, they have dividing curtains that can be pulled back or left between, as suits, does that sound rude?? So we have able pitting.

Doors open again is not a problem, usual time between 7 and 8, Chris is in touch with the centre and will be more specific on this and the electic.

Email the database to Bill Allison, let me know if you don't have his email address and I'll pm it to you.

From what i have heard the carpet is super grippy, is this still the case as i have never been to the durham indoor regionals

Ben, You'll have to wait and see.

No big advantage for local club members, then?

Lee

Ignore my last post i just missed the questions before.

1 Jump, fantastic, i was ok at touring cars:D

notlawnomis
23-01-2008, 07:55 PM
Just to clarify.

The blue carpet that was used in the past at regionals belonged to Nissan not NERCR. As we are not at Nissan anymore we do not have access to it, even if we wanted it, but we don't, so it doesn't matter. :)

NO BLUE CARPET WILL BE USED :D

Col, no your exactly right, there will be no advantage to members as we have not used this venue before. The only people that will have an advantage are those that raced in the World event in 1988, but that was on-road anyway :p

sosidge
23-01-2008, 07:58 PM
No big advantage for local club members, then?

Considering NERCR is in the unfortunate position of being effectively without a venue at present, and that this will be the first time a regional has been run at Temple Park, you can be sure there will be no "local advantage".

Chrislong
23-01-2008, 07:59 PM
LOL, I presume the club does have some carpet to use? All I am curious about is will the track be completely carpet or have some slippy.

notlawnomis
23-01-2008, 08:03 PM
Yes the club has carpet to use, but you would be right to assume there will be some slippy as well!!

Just bring the same tyres as we always run at indoor meetings and you will be in the same boat as everyone else :)

Do you lot work for CID, all these questions :wtf: :D

Lee
23-01-2008, 08:21 PM
The tyreto have there would be the T27 with glass tape to belt up the carcass to stop baloonage, then glue the outer walls of the front tyres, this is what worked at the worlds:D

or you could use a yellow mini pin:o

chris68nufc
23-01-2008, 08:23 PM
It has got me puzzled why people are so desperate to find out what kind of carpet will be used. The last indoor Regional was built by some people not now at the club. (if i remember rightly) Im sure it was quite flat which is a bit naff but since we have been racing a lot more recently thre will be a quality track. Hopefully similar to Yorks recent Regional cos i wasnt able to attend!!

Well done Simon for the tyre advice aswell! Looking forward to this 1!

ben
23-01-2008, 08:45 PM
Maybe we want to know what the carpet will be like so people can have some sort of starting setup? because last year i ended up with spacers all over the place on my car and an anti roll bar.

ben

sosidge
23-01-2008, 08:49 PM
Howay man! It's off-road! Expect the unexpected! Can't believe people are getting the knickers in a twist over carpet grip levels on a track that hasn't even been laid yet.

Sounds more like a "snoring" car conversation to me!!!

bigred5765
23-01-2008, 08:55 PM
cant you let us know about electric as i have no battery and only use power supply and it a good 2.30-3 hours for us

Northy
23-01-2008, 08:55 PM
I don't care what the carpet is like, thanks for answering my questions.

Is there mains available?

G

Lee
23-01-2008, 08:58 PM
There will definatley be A mains

Probably B, C, and D mains as well:D

Sorry i couldn`t resist:)

notlawnomis
23-01-2008, 09:06 PM
Yeah Lee your right!! :p as for the electric, as it says in my earlier post, Chris will confirm I'm sure as soon as he reads this. I would find it very hard to believe that a worlds event would be held there if no electric was available.

I know some seem to think we are in Scotland but we do have electricity this far up :D

chrispattinson
24-01-2008, 09:51 AM
From what I rememeber, there are power points on the walls, so power will be there, but it will be upto drivers and pit crew to distribute it throughtout the pit areas with extensions etc.

I am waiting for an email back from the centre today regarding this.

I am also going to look at the venue tonight or tomorrow night, so I will know better then.

Does anyone have any special requests for when I go to the centre?? Perhaps a drinks price list from the bar, a menu, colour scheme of the hall etc?

Lee
24-01-2008, 09:54 AM
Chris, could you run from one end of the hall to the other, so we get an idea of how big it is.

Cheers

Lee:D

nobby
24-01-2008, 10:02 AM
i'v raced a buggy at this venue before:D
the hall is big if anybody attended the worlds in 1998 we will have 2/3rd's of that hall.
they do have power.
and the track will be a challenge.

simon what time is everybody getting there on the saturday to build?

chrispattinson
24-01-2008, 10:12 AM
2PM onwards at Temple Park, though we are unsure at the moment what time in the morning we will need to get stuff from Chuter Ede etc.

Temple Park have confirmed that there are power sockets on the perimeter wall of the pitting area and track area.

12V batts are allowed if in leak proof container.

The centre doors will be open at 7:30 AM.

ok tell us what you would like to see.
how big and how many jump's?
do you want the track to flow or be very twisty.

we wellcome any input.

Northy
24-01-2008, 03:18 PM
I'd like to see every jump have a downramp (we tried to do this at York, only one small jump didn't), as it makes them much better.

That'll do for me.

G

Lee
24-01-2008, 03:48 PM
Same for me, also keep in mind a flowing track provides cleaner racing.

Im not going to tell people how to build a track or complain on the day if its not to my liking, i know there are some experienced racers designing the track and i know the amount of time that goes into setting up and organising a meeting like this.
