This line here just made my day:
This will allow us to complete final sample testing and move into production within the next few weeksNews from Today: http://www.team-durango.com/part-info.php?partNo=TD490015

Also, shocktowers and stabi-bars are on sale :) time to upgrade your R i'd say.

looks intresting and i cant wait for all the other stuff they've been testing.

The generic decal sheet isn't that intresting unless it's suposed to make the other two decal sheets obsolete. Maybe there wont be two versions of the dex410 anymore?
your thoughts?

Yay, that's excellent news. I really hope they do mean a few weeks as I have been looking forward to the 2WD for a while now.

New 2wd sounds good! What is the deal with the patent?I don't see something that can be patented I really hope that they don't go this way .Larger companies do have the lawyers to win-this comes from someone who has worked as a patent examiner. Not to mention that patent wars in RC will be the death of any creativity at the end and a lot of harsh feelings in what is already a very small racing community. Sale numbers for such a product will never be high enough to guarantee profits high enough for paying patent wars. Did I mention that I have seen people's well being, happiness and willingness to create being destroyed by patent wars?

Sorry for the rant.It is just that I do not wish to see the endless lawsuit wars that I have been unfortunate enough to have been part of in the computer industry and other fields...

I wouldn't worry about that too much, i think TD just trys to prevent exact copys of the dex210, not a special feature.
But i guess well' see.
Also, 25% on dex410 bodys, sweet.
even tho the new one is around the corner i migth just buy a spare or two ;)

I literally just bought the Tresrey gearbox holder, it is slightly cheaper than the Durango one but the Durango one looks much nicer :(

I have the Tresrey one too. I might drill and tap it to add a grub screw

Glad they have the gearboxholder in aluminium, but it's too late for me since I got the Tresrey ones.
I'm really surprised they didn't use big bore shocks on that 2wd buggy.

I think TD-Drivers switch between the shocks, depending on track and personal feeling.
Elliot Boots's DEX210 had big bores. I'd like the 210 to have bigbores as standard tho ;)

i think some drivers wanted to stick with what they were comfortable with. and not make big changes with their setups before worlds.

similar to Lee Martin not wanting to use the TRF502 and wanting to be "in tune" with his cars. not a bad concept

Maybe the precaution is based on their experience with the dex410 clone.

Maybe the precaution is based on their experience with the dex410 clone.

Thing is, a european patent means squat out in this region of the world. If a company in china wants to make an exact copy of the car, they well, and just ignore any copyright/patents.

No offence to TD, but I highly doubt (as DEXtrain says) that they would have the money to a) maintain a global patent, and b) try and fight the patent in Euro, let alone in Asia..

There's the cultural thing as well. The TRF416 clone that was made out here, the company did it as they wanted to show Tamiya they had the capabilities to do so... in some respects, heart was in the the right place, just not so much of a clue how to do it!

Not saying clones are a good thing (they aren't), and TD shouldn't look to protect their ideas in some way, but there is usually more to the story.

Ed

Is the car going to be a mid or rear motored car ? In all the recent events its been rear motored but when the car first appeared at the Petit in 2010 it was midmotored.

I think the idea was to have both mid and rear options in the kit for the user to decide, like the losi 22. I'm looking forward to getting one, and if theres an option i'd try the mid motor first.

Are they going to patent the AE front end?;)

I'm sure all the AE gear will have gone in the production version. If not, I'd seriously doubt I'd buy one as it is the B4/4.1 front end which is the most vulnerable on that car.

Is it a durango shell that is fitted? Or somebody else's prior to releasing the kit? I'm not keen on the look.. It's not as cool as the 410 shell.

Thats a J concepts B4 shell, punisher I think its called

I really hope the B4 front will be gone on the production version.
Nothing wrong with it, it's fastest in the world  but it would feel like yet another conversion kit. If i give Durango my money, i want 100% Durango.

But Hupo and Jorn are driving different shells, aren't they? Hupos shell looks fine. Jorns, not so much.

Is it too early to ask whether the DEX210 will have a gear diff in the kit or at least available as an option part?

To say the truth cab forward would look better .I am still very curious at what they arr trying to patent. Patent pending number does not turn any results. Why don't they just show the application or explain instead of just bragging about it? Uk only patent? Must be the rear or mid motor thing. But the 22 is already out...And mid or rear motor cannot be patented anyway.Just one incarnation maybe. It is like patenting the double wishbone suspension....

I think the car will be powered by antimatter and run off dilithium cyrstals.
