Nothing ever goes to plan, right? :(
Well, remember I said I wanted to build a bike engined, rear wheel drive mini (we're talking real cars here BTW). Well, they really are bringing big money these days for what they are, so I've still not got one.
So....
Well....
Anyone remember Julie's old Green Chinq? :D
It's sat on our drive, declared SORN. What do you guys think I should do?
How stealth would a Fiat Chinq be that did 0 - 60 in 4 seconds! :o :o

Hey G,
How about a twin mid-engined Hyabusa powered RWD Cinq?
Its been done to a Mini before, surely it can be done to a Cinq too?

OK then Chris, but only if you buy the engies at £2k+ a pop! :o

ooooh, I can see there may be a problem with that idea then.
Which bike engines are cheap (or FOC) and easy to get? Something loud, a V-Twin perhaps?

Are those engines about at a reasonable price though?

Don't know, will have to investigate....
I also got offered a GT40 kit the other day, would have been nice, but he wanted £9K! :o

Be cheaper to buy a front end right-off, so you get ECU and sensors in the package to, just check to block/head over first for cracks.

This all goes over my head, just make sure to give me a ride in it. :)

Ah, something I know a bit about!
Sort of…
Depending on what your budget is, for powering a car you’d want something with a bit of bottom end on it, I think that’s why the ‘Busa engines have been popular for the Mini’s and Seven’s. Having said that, the GSX-R 1100 oil cooled engine is still very well regarded and has a stupid amount of tuning options available for it, I think most of the drag bikes are still using them. Though it would limit you to its 5 speed gear box (could be wrong on that though, working from memory here).
Another cheaper option maybe a ZZR 1100 engine and ‘box, I think they bore out to around 1400cc, but you’d want to check on that.
Other things I can think of, making sure the Fiat’s shell is strong enough to have the mods done to it, and be something you’d not kill yourself accelerating in. But that part I’m sure you know already. ;)
Right, back to lurking for me.
Cheers,
Mat

Off hand, I really don’t… I’m afraid I’m not an engineer or mechanic, just read to many car and bike mags. However I did a quick Google for some info and came up with a couple of interesting links. Hope it’s ok to post these Jimmy…
http://thekneeslider.com/motorcycle-powered-cars/ Seems to be a list of sources for info on bike engines in cars.

Some one trying to put a ZX-9R engine in a 126
http://www.zcars.org.uk/mini/conversion.htm Zcars have a video of their parts used in a mini bike engine conversation.
Looks like the info is out there, just a question of knowing the right questions to ask, which I think you’ll have more luck with then me. ;)
Cheers,
Mat
