Don't think you're going to get a better signal till the proper switchover. If it's already happened in your area, try getting a USB tv-card that has a regular aerial socket at the back. WinTV is pretty good, I've had one for my desktop, but can't really use it yet till the switchover happens in September. The ones that come with the little aerials aren't much cop. I have one that I've used in London when I've stayed there a few times, and struggled to get anything decent.
We were the first area to have the switch over, and have been digital for about a year, but I am on cable, so don't have a Digital aerial. I want to be able to watch tv on the laptop upstairs, or more importantly, when out racing to. I have one of THESE (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/components/tvtunercards/compro/u650f.html) and need an aerial to plug into it.

Have a look in Maplins then, they do a range of digital aerials. Does it have a standard coax aerial conection? Getting a signal at race meets might not happen due to all the radio equipment though. Might be an idea to get an internet dongle with enough bandwidth for internet tv.
Erm, I don't want an 'internet dongle' as that is a constant cost, hence buying the tv tuner. I shall have a look in Maplin, I was hoping someone on here had already done this and could offer some advice.

I have tried a few times, and the best signal (the only signal) that I got so far was in London 15 floors up. If you go in Maplin, make sure you tell them specifics :)

Windows media centre
this software wont guarantee a better signal but is interface is a lot easier to use. search youtube for mediaportal is actually a all in 1 htpc solution very powerful...
