To be perfectly honest the iphone is way over rated. If you want the best buy a samsung galaxy s2. It beats the iphone hands down. Just check any online review. You wont be dissapointed. Plus its android so nearly everything you will ever need is totally free.

Another vote for the galaxy s2 or even the s, as it still compares well against the iphone.
check out talkmobile for pretty good deals , they use the vodafone network. I've been well happy so far!

I've been very happy with my iPhone on Vodafone, and will be buying the 5 (or what ever it's called) upon release.

I wouldn't buy a 4 right now griff, as new one should be along within 2 months. That said, on that basis, you might be able to do a deal on a 4 - because generally there aren't any deals to be done.

I've moved back to Vodafone with my 3GS and it's vastly improved over O2.

Personally I'd wait a bit as a newer iPhone is due to drop somewhere aroound October, which may result in a drop in prices for the older stuff.

I cant comment on where is the best place to get an iPhone from on Vodafone as I dont know to be honest.

What I can comment on though is the Apple Vs Android debate as I have used both extensively.

Which you prefer is largely down to what you are going to do with the phone.... (if you are just going to make calls then dont get either.... :p)

I had the HTC Desire on Android and I loved the little things that it did as standard, although I believe some of this was actually down to the HTC Sense overlay rather than the pure Android OS.

When I went onto the iPhone there were many of the little simple things that I missed from my HTC, some I still do!

However, if you are an apps junkie, particularly for games then there simply is no contest. The Apple app store wipes the floor with Android in terms of content.

There maybe more free apps on Android, but for strength in depth and quality of apps then it has to be Apple.

However, there are also many reasons not to buy the iPhone. No Bluetooth, no external memory facility, extortionate fixed tariffs compared to similar Android devices, hugely overpriced handset again compared to Android....

I am currently using the iPhone 4 and I love it, but to be honest if HTC sorted out the pathetic internal memory capacity on their phones then I would go back. Not until they start including at least 8gb as standard though.

My HTC Desire became useless. I filled the memory within weeks, so I moved what I could to the SD and deleted the rest. Within 6 months though the phone just accumulated so much background junk that it was permanently full and stopped simple things like emails downloading from working. I tried for ages to resolve this, and consulted many 'experts' but the bottom line always came down to needing a factory reset and losing anything that I couldnt back up to SD.

So I did the reset and promptly sold the phone a few days later!

So I would say to think what you want the main feaures of your phone (calling aside) to be and then choose the OS that best suits your needs.

If that happens to be the iPhone then unfortunately its just a case of paying the price..

iphone4 has bluetooth...

while I have seen a few impressive features on android phones it feels like the phone itself lets the side down. they seem so clunky and heavy. their batteries (from what I've heard) don't last very long at all. I'm currently seeing 4 days most charges (easily 3 with a decent usage figure)

the iphone4 looks totally gorgeous too

you get what you pay for at the end of the day. the iphone4 screen still trumps all also

That may have been true a while ago, but not since the galaxy s and the s2 is better again

I have to be honest and say I disagree with just about all of the above. The iPhone has bluetooth, but only for connecting to handsfree. It doesn't allow data transfer.

Also I don't understand how you can say the phone itself let's the side down? There are literally hundreds of phones on android, made by all the major brands. They can't all be bad! HTC phones are better than the iPhone bar their crap internal memories. The samsung galaxy s2 is way better than the iPhone. And if you want a sexy phone then you can't beat the ultra slim Sony Ericsson experia arc, also on android.

As for battery life, I had to charge my HTC Desire daily, which was a bit shit, but I have to charge my iPhone every day as well so there is no difference.

I'm not trying to bash the iPhone, it's what I currently have and I love it generally. But I have to be honest and say that on android there are now better phones, with better features, cheaper to buy, cheaper monthly tariffs, and they don't handcuff you with what you can and can't do like apple do. How many people do you hear of jailbreaking android phones? None, because they don't need to.

At the end of the day, I have an iPhone and I really like it. But just because u have one I'm not going to preach that they are the best, because in my opinion they are not.

Thinking of getting the arc myself when my satio contract expires soon, still love the camera on my satio, 12.1mp :)
Will probably still use it as a camera even when i get the new phone
Have to say that galaxy does look super cool & pretty much kicks the iphones butt in most of the tests in the video above

I'm an apple fan so I don't look at the other manufacturers. I've got a macbook pro, iPad and iPhone so everything integrates with each other and it makes my life simple. Also my head unit in my car connects to my phone and plays the music stored on there so thats another reason to stick with Apple.

If the OP definitely wants an iPhone then if you can hold out for a couple of months then there will be some deals to be done when the new model is launched.

And I'm the exact opposite - I won't tolerate anything apple in my house. Simply the most overpriced product range in the world. Seems to me that every generation is deliberately made with flaws so the buyers always want the next, "better" (less flawed?) one. Didn't it take 3 generations to get a camera?

I think its very odd really...i have seen people both love and hate android phones, and love the iphone!

Most people on here are pretty technical and practical people, so can easily manage the more complex (IMO) Android phones. They also love 'playing' with and trying to get the best from their phones, and tweaking and researching how to do stuff on it! Its all part of the fun, and works alongside rc cars i think! I also think that there is a generation gap thing as well....I know a few people say over 45 who have bought a blackberry/android phone, and hated them, as it is too complicated, and non intuitive (there words not mine) They arent too bothered by 'features' but just want a simple phone that works, that backs up easily, syncs nicely there contacts, favourites, notes etc...they also dont mind paying a premium for a simple life
Most of the people who have bought the android phones, and loved them are under 30 so....does that say something, and the phones are more suited to 'facebooking' and tweeting out the box!

The iphone is more expensive granted, and Android currently takes away a large percentage of the market with this...i know its something apple are keen to grab hold of, so expect some more iphone nano's etc coming soon I reckon.

I work in IT, and work with Windows and Linux daily. I simply could not go home and work with Windows on my home computer, dealing with anti-virus, windows updates, so am a converted apple fan. I am not too bothered by apples restrictions, as I have seen the light, and am a lover of itunes, and being legal (not too sure why people bash itunes to be honest, i love it!),but never used it on windows, as it was rubbish on there, maybe thats why...

I do think that apple tie you in to their own products, but I dont mind really, so long as it works, and is simple. I gave my wife a few minutes demo on itunes with her ipod touch, and the app store. Setup the wireless for her, and she is away. Havent had to touch thte thing since last summer lol!

The one thing I dont like about the android phones, is that they are non standard in appearance. I do like the HTC hardware, but the fact that the HTC is skinned, whilst the samsung is raw android with some samsung tweaks, is really offputting! Also trying to find out how to do stuff like subscribing to an ics calendar took me about 2 days for an HTC, but 10 seconds for an ipone, and it worked straight away....dont get me wrong, i am for an open market, and do agree with cost for apple products, being expensive, but would happily pay the extra. I dont own an iphone anymore, but do own an ipad, which whips any netbook into the ground for battery life, virus free, and easy restore life style.

i'd say the iphone is more suited to "facebooking" andriods can do alot more technical stuff like download torrents (and any other file type) customise the launchers and operation of the mobile.

i'd agree iphones are better for games but as for syncing.. both andriod and iphone works perfectly.. i sync my contacts/calendar my gmail account which uses an exchange.. basically if i add a new contact on my phone it'll upload it to my gmail account and vise vera.

samsung galaxy s2 has "touchwiz" which is just a launcher... HTC uses "sense"
in both cases you can change them your not limited..

if you really want an iphone if i was you i'd wait for the new 1..
if you picked up a s2 and an iphone 4 and compared them you'd see why were rating the s2...

fyi.

i got my s2 on a 12month contact cost me £99 upfront then £30 a month for 400mins 1000txt 1gig data, if you work it out...

im gonna pay

12 x £30 = 360 + 99 = £469

£469 is basically how much you can get a s2 offline... so im not paying over the value of the handset plus i get mins / txt.. if the iphone 5 is really good i wont be stuck

guys it has helped loads as I never even looked at the other phones.
I have to have it on voda and after reading all of the above I did go for a lie down! No, not really ;-)
I still want an iPhone because of ease of use and I am not very technically minded.
The wife is expecting any day now so the camera and video will be a wanted addition.
Thanks guys, I've emailed voda to see what deals can be done;)

An easy to find cheap iPhones online is to do a search on Craigslist.com. You can specify what areas you want to search and what exactly you are looking for. Once you find someone selling cheap IPhones or at a reasonable price, don't be afraid to send an email and make your offer.

One caution is to beware of anyone offering free iPhones. Remember that nothing is free and so there must certainly be a catch. Your goal is to find where to buy an iPhone for cheap, not expose yourself to a potential scam for chance at a free iPhone.
