There are so many options just for tuning your motor.

-ESC punch
-ESC timing
-Mechanical timing
-Kv or motor wind
-Final drive ratio
-Batteries

Does anyone have any idea where to start to set it up for a particular track? Would be great to get this down for once and for all.

Cheers,

If you are running off-road with mod motors, you have very little to worry about.

You'll keep the same motor in everywhere (usually 6.5 in 4wd, 8.5 in 2wd), use the mod motor profile on your ESC, adjust the ESC settings to give you the throttle feel you like, gear it to top out at the end of the long straights without overheating.

You should nail all that down within a few practice runs. If you go to an exceptionally large or exceptionally small track you might need to go up or down a couple of teeth on the pinion.

Thx for the guide line.
Any chance you know the difference between motor and esc timing? Should they match each other? Lastly, on a med traction track, to much power is not always best. I have seen that punching full throttle on lets the tires swell / balloon, no real forward speed.
cheers for the help

If you are running mod, do not let yourself get confused by the motor and ESC timing settings. Simply run the ESC on the suggested mod profile and run the motor on the suggested timing setting.

Wheelspin = wasted power = wrong motor, wrong setup or wrong driving style
