Fits the bill nicely but brand new would be a budget buster!

That's full rrp too, I'm sure a model shop will come along soon and let you know they are actually discounted from that price too.. Should at least cover your batts and bring in way under budget.

A quick google, and the vantage comes in at £89!

There is always the Ansmann Mad Rat RTR at £99 as well. Although, I admit you will need a charger and battery on top of that.

just been chatting to my mate and there is too much to choose from

the ftx looks top value even at rrp but then i think it boils down to parts availability and cost right...

choices so far

- mad rat
- zx5 (150 new but can get them for around 75 used)
- edge
- phoenix (my personal fave only because i have a b3!)

ive told him to do a bit of research

Forgot to mention as well, the Mad Rat RTR is supplied with 2.4Ghz radio gear. For less than £100 thats not bad going....

Not sure I like the bottom loading battery compartment in that. I'd be concerned that my cells would fall out part way through a race.

The Mad Rat RTR is possibly better value as it comes with 2.4GHz rather than 27MHz, also £99, but you will need batteries and charger. Might be able to do a deal for 2 at the same time at a local model shop.

i think the intended purpose is for some robust garden and nearby forest bashing action so depending on the fastening it might be prone to issues but hard to say without taking a closer look

Who'd have thought that there would be so much choice at that price level!

I'd go with the Madrat as you can upgrade it once your budget allows.

Mad Rat RTR @ £93.91 each
http://www.lancastermodelshop.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/ModelAndHobbyWorld/_Ansmann%20124000006%20/356760/Ansmann%20Madrat%202WD%201%2F10%20Buggy%20RTR

Might be old 40Mhz version though, doesn't say.

£94.99 from eBay (states 2.4GHz version)

Leaves a few quid for cells and charger (not many admittedly).
