View Full Version : DEX210 Pre-orders
Gareth Jones

All,
So where do I pre-order a DEX210?
I am new to Durango so will need to order wheels, springs etc at the same time as well as some spares and a gear diff.
Are there any deals to be had at certain shops, or is everyone offering the car and spares at the same price? To stop blatant advertising I guess if anyone has advise it may be best to PM it to me.....
Regards
Gareth

Maybe it is cheaper to order directly two complete ones.....
Pre-Order?
No Problem in Germany every TD Dealer accept it........

Check out the Telstar Racing website for more details.

Front wheels are a metric bearing fitment, not common with any other cars.
Durango are aiming to ship all spares at the same time as the car kits.

Anyone got any idea what supply is going to be like after the initial batch?
Are we going to see the first batch sell out in days (?) then a three month wait for the next, or will there be a steady supply?
Looking to buy early next year, to get it built and ready for the outdoor season. And don't want to come unstuck having to wait months for one!!

Unlikely, the British/US and SEA patent offices do not respond quickly, and the patent is valid from the file date, which they have done already, therefore it is highly unlikely to be anything to do with the release date...
I was actually surprised they only mention patent in the UK, which i think cover you for Europe if pursue it, but I would expect the US to be filed, also i could not find the patent on the searches i did on the published number... should at least get a patent header by now...(only out of curiosity)

It's got to be right, in the competitive world these days manufacturers need to be spot on with QC etc. etc. The first release of their 410 took a bit of a hit, but they've worked to get it right from day one.

And even then it's touch and go, i've had some massive crashes and all i've broken is the shell and the wing......

I'm on my 3rd wing, but original shell.
I never had a ball cup pop off, but have upgraded to the HD ones purely to remove the play in them and stop the link hitting the wheel on the rear.

So my question is... any news yet? As there's nothing on the Durango website yet, or anywhere else. I tried to find the patent but even that seems impossible to find in the databases. Adam Skelding
14-09-2011, 07:28 AM
I know a lot of you have questions about when is the exact release date of the DEX210, so I'll try to answer your questions.
We will always post an official release date on our website first, from there all the major news groups (including oOple) will get a message giving them the same details.
The release date is imminent, but we wouldn't want to say a date and then have pesky customs hold our shipment up and our date to go out of the window. Our distributors have had an approximate ship date which they have passed on to their shops, these are the dates which you are seeing at places like A-main.
Best thing to do is pre-order with your LHS, most of them have already pre-ordered from us, it will be the surest way of getting a kit on or about the release date. You can still order direct through the TD website, the stock level will go live once it gets checked in.
The wait is almost over.

I don't like the fact that people have run the C4.1 for what seems like ages - at club meetings / regionals etc and yet the paying punter still can't buy one !

If you remember the 2wd durango was actually 1st spied at Petit 2010 (1st time I knew about it anyway). yet it's been 18 months further down the line before we finally got a finalised product. Granted the team haven't had 6 cars at nationals. but still it's quite a long time to get these cars perfected ready for production and then production time which is out of CML's hands.
Look at all the variations of the DEX210. I think I remember seeing like 5 different 2wd prototypes before the real deal came along with a date of Sept 2011 attached to it.

I am a fan of pre-release hype and discussion, but there comes a time when the paying public need info to start making a relationship with their next intended purchase. Well done Durango for staying in touch with your fans and releasing photos and info regarding the 2wd buggy. The C4.1 is beginning to suffer obviously by CML not doing this. I speak to several people each week lately who have either cancelled their pre-order for the C4.1 or are considering just getting the Rango anyway due to lack of confirmed info on the CML release. Durango are doing the correct thing by 'drip feeding' info in a steady and informative way...keeps the hype up whilst not giving too much away. More info is better than none

My perception of the Durango 2WD release, was that - yes it was under development for a good while, but quietly and not running at local clubs !
Then out of no where we saw the production cars at the oOple race, then it's announced officially almost the next day, then we are told in a matter of weeks we can buy it :)
All good IMO.
C4.1 has lingered too long..

It's taking tooo long :( :p I want one badly!
This car ticks all the boxes really. From the innovative design on the gearbox to the way the shocks are mounted: the front lower and rear upper screws are more accessible than on the B4 and TRF201, which I sometimes find annoying on my TRF201. The decision to keep the front shocks inboard it good to protect them from damage I think, and the rear lower mount is likely hard to change without compromising strength or weight distribution.
So Durango, just get it over with the teasing and letting us wait, release it

Basically believe nothing untill Durango say anything.
It looks like it will be released next week but nobody knows for definate. Durango will release when they want to, if they really wanted to the could decide to never release. It would obviously be a very bad decision commercially but they don't have to do anything if they don't want to they aren't obliged to release anything.

Just waiting to hear back from TD, they did say early October.
They won't give an official date yet though just in case the kits get held back going through customs.

All shops received the following email earlier today from Team Durango:
"Hi,
The DEX210 kits are due to arrive by the middle of next week.
We have allowed you to see the stock that will be available to you from this first batch of kits. This also allows you to send your payment by bank transfer and have it clear so your order is ready to send when we have the kits.
As the first batch is a little less than we had expected we have had to limit your quantities. We do expect more kits to be in stock very soon so that you can have the remainder of the kits you have pre-ordered with us.
Kind regards,
James Ambrose
Account Supervisor"
So shops with kits on pre-order should receive some stock back end of next week.

Well my post is basically paraphrased from the email I received from TD today.
As with all products coming in from outside the UK there may well be a delay going through customs, ect, which may delay the kit from being released. However this is the latest official news from TD.
I have sold all my first batch kits, however if you want one of the second batch kits, you can use the pre-order system on the Telstar Racing website. Orders will be sent out in the order they are received as and when the kits come through.

This is funny, I've been reading along with you all.
I've been flying 50 sized 3D nitro heli's (and others) for years, and this 'delay thing' happens ALL the time, including people saying I can't fly until this new model comes out !
You can read of people hearing about the next best thing, selling everything they have in readiness, then waiting for months or years for this next 'best' model to be on sale.
One manufacture took nearly 3 years to come to the market, and all they kept saying was 'very soon'. It became a big joke in the end. The model took so long to come out that all the things that made it great (on paper) were out of date by the time it hit the shops. When it did become available, it was found NOT to be the best thing ever by some, but just another nice heli !
It was very funny to read about the people that had sold off all there gear and had nothing to fly, thinking it was only another two weeks to go. What was funnier was reading of the people that had bought brand new gear costing about £1500 ready for this new air frame. Only to find the model took so long to come out that all the warranty had passed on there 'new' gear !!!
There was endless speculation of release dates, by shops and people that thought they were 'in the know'. The forums were spitting nails for month after month and FULL of flyer's saying "I have nothing to fly until this model comes out" !!
I don't understand ?
Why didn't these people just keep what they had until the newer model was on there table, built, THEN swap over all the bits or buy the new stuff at that point. All the old gear, if it needed to go, could then be sold off and get some money back ! That way, they could keep flying.
( or racing, if you get my meaning ? )

can't say I've sold anything in preparation for the DEX210. All I did was buy a 2nd speedo, receiver and PT :)
I plan to replace my 2010 spec DEX410 with a DEX410v3 when I can, but I still have my 2010 spec car and I'll keep it until I have my v3 built and ready to race :)

Maybe they couldn't afford to and wanted to get the money first?
The above quote has never been a problematic issue in 10th off-road racing in my experience.. Durango have been good at keeping people up to date.
What has been evident though recently is some other rc companies not keeping their prospective customers up to date and numerous early orders cancelled. If a problem crops up that delays the release of a product the feeling and comments i've heard from racers is just let them know! Its more unlikely that orders will be cancelled if they know whats happening even if its going to take longer. - Keeping people hanging on just leads to frustration and they'll probably look elsewhere!

I must admit to being interested in this new car :)
If it turns out to be something great, I may get one and ditch my Cougar SV. But I'll stick with the Schumacher until the DEX210 has proved it's self.
I got all cought up in the 22 when that first came out. I've, (as in personally) not talked to anybody yet that has said thier 22 is fully sorted and are 100% happy. I sold mine before it got to the track and happy I did.
My SV (bought to replace the 22) is a very nice car to drive and relable, but this DEX210 also looks nice :D
I'm watching with interest :)
