If your current set up works for you and it's reliable in a mardave then dont try to fix something that does not need fixing !
Alternatively spektrum TX RX would be a good step up, or if you want to go for a futaba 3VCS with a spektrum module and rx (this will and can do everything apart from make tea). Extra receivers around £35 a go.
Feeling really flush - New Futaba 3VCS with FAAST module, only drawback is the cost of extra rx's, nearly £100 a go !

deffo 3vcs,
one here on ebay,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Futaba-3VCS-Transmitter-2-R133F-recievers-/320739575456?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item4aad9186a0#ht_500wt_1156
then get this 2.4ghz module and reciever (only £17.90 for reciever and transmitter module) and you'll have a cracking system

i have three cars and recievers would cost me a fortune so i think the 3vcs would be a no no.

this is same problem i had,
hence why i upgraded to the planet system as recievers are £15 each and you dont need to pair up every time.
although not having a memory is a bit of a pain and taken a lot of tweeking to get the trims all the same on all cars
but alternatives seem expensive

I would plump for a ko propo esprit 3 if you are
Prepared to stretch that far.
Quite simply the best stick radio I have placed my hands on. It fits my hands just right. Making adjustments is really easy aswell!
