When I first got the car I was more or less instantly happy with it but now I have got used to it I am steadily getting to the point I always come back to a common set-up almost everywhere!!!!
To make this work I have had to do a small change from stock.
I am now running the inner front camber link in the middle hole and the outer on a kingpin ball stud like the original ZX5. To do this you need to ....
1) mod a 1mm washer to have a 4mm clearnance hole and then thin it down slightly to get a smooth sliding fit without being loose in the resultant assembly.
2) move the stock 1mm washer to the lower position from the stock upper position (i.e. between the knuckle and the castor block/ upright) ... this is actually to get the front end to bite more rather than being essential .... you could open that up to 4mm and fit it along with the thinned washer mentioned next between the top pivot assembly .... but why would you want to ....???
3) assemble the lower pivot with the normal screw and top hat bush + the 1mm washer
4) assemble the upper pivot so that the thined washer (with the 4mm bore) is between the castor block and the upper pivot point on the knuckle) and then fit the stock ZX5 king pin ball stud, you will not be able to use the normal top hat bush .... hence the thined washer.
I have found that this combination, middle on inner ball stud (no washers under the inner ball stud) works a treat everywhere so far.
All I need to do now is nail down the rear link and decide between one of two front springs and 1 of two oils front and rear and I'll then publish my base set up.
Play time is almost over ... soon be time to go racing!!! :)
