Hi,iv stipped down a used sp and id like to give the bearings a good clean and regrease,any good recomendations as what to use,would petrol be ok to clean the internals?

or brake cleaner..

then use GT85 or something similar..

Use honey. Its really good and its natural.

+1 on GT85, cleans bearings amazingly well and obviously repels moisture as part of the deal. I clean loads of different bearings by blasting some (about 20mm) into an old mug and let the bearings sit in it for about 20 minutes. Swish them about a bit and watch the dirt and crap just fall away, geat stuff :)

I have a big can of Schumacher bearing cleaner which does the job nicely.

I use parafin, but if the bearing are that bad just replace them. I use avid-rc bearings, really high quality and only $1 each for any size bearings.

thanks chaps,iv just dropped them in petrol:woot:,just hope they dont melt like the tub did:woot:......they dont need to be tip top coz they will be backup ones incase i need them,
ill get some GT85 to finish them off,and you gota love the smell:thumbsup:

Is it just me or does the GT85 smell like Brut aftershave from the late 70's? Lol honestly it does, but that stuff is brilliant
