it looks a bit 12th scale, the wheels/tires look pretty big.

hard to tell from just a render, but I think it will retain a lot of its durango'ness which is not a bad thing.

body looks nice, looks similar to something I raced last year

Looks really nice! I'd prefer it narrow in the front like the original Durango though. Maybe they could make two versions of the chassis and the shell. The wide one if great for those with large electronics of course.

The UK distributer is SerpentUK. You can get serpent spares from a few places the one i know and use is rc-direct and demon have stuff but as you probably can guess you cant get spares for s500 yet. At the moment I don't race 1/10 electric off road but as soon as the s500 comes out i will hopefully get one.

I sure hope it will be available in HK-based webshops, with a good selection of spares. If so happens I think it's gonna be a huge success!!!

I sure hope Aero won't suffer too much because of this, but I sure think it's gonna be a hard birth... I pre-ordered quite early, but I must admit too much time has gone by now. You kinda loose interest after all this time. The S500 looks very tempting!

Of course, had Atomic Carbon made a superslim 3+3 carbon bath tub version AND a shell that looks nice, that would have been irresistable :wub

It might have been discussed here or elsewhere and I missed it, but what kind of weight are we expecting? With that aluminum chassis, it seems to me it's going to be heavier than, everything else?

Also, anyone seen the actual production model being tested anywhere? in any official races?

Hey guys,
i'm just returning to the off road scene, and at the moment I race for Serpent with the on road cars.
I've been very interested in the s500, and have sent many emails and have had to reply. The new season is getting very close and nothing has happened, because I would like to know before I go and buy another car.

Does anyone know anything, any help would be much appreciated

thanks

I'm glad they are detachable, the side plates reduce flex but the car is way more beautiful with the slim chassis.

It doesn't look anorexic without the sides I think, as it is a bit wider than the Aero A-One, without them it would be the same, which isn't bad:lol:

Isn't flex an advantage off-road? Same as flex chassis for touring cars on rough asphalt, a flex chassis on a 4wd should help. I thought?

Got a bit of disapointing news from Serpent today:(.

[Ronald Baar] Hi,

The S500 is delayed until end of this year, but production preps are underway.
We are too busy with other projects of S120 ad S240 1st.

Thx for the interest. A pre-order list will not be made. We will make enough of them to meet demand ;)

Ronald

I knew they weren't goning to release it untill after the Euros. But I didn't think they would have delayed it that far. Hopefully they'll release it for X-mas.
"tho I don't think that that is the best of time to sell RC " ( you would think that most people Buy there owne car. and not be offered them as presents.)
Anyway....
Gives us more time to anticipate it's release.

So the S500 will be released fjust in time for LiPos being legal - I really hope Serpent will develop a different chassis in time to match the lower weight of LiPo batteries , otherwise the car might not prove commercially successful... One of the most awaited cars might just be released too late!

Considering it is the car that resembles the Aero most, well, err, yes, I would guess so.
Of course, with a different setup and some unique Dur... äh serpent features as well as with the LiPo option... just wait and see!

Comparing the Lazer ZX-5 with the SP version isn't easy, and they "only" swapped the suspension parts.

This car has the futuristic look like the 80's Tamiya Avante.
And I just hope people like Jimmy buy it so he can do a track test and
build of it for this site. I've read all Jimmy's builds, but I dont know
which is my favorite build. I just hope it isnt a failure like the Avante,
and thus being too ahead of it's time. But I doubt that.
I hope for the best in this car, even for Jimmy.
