Hi all,

The club should have confirmed details about racing in the Naul this winter by the weekend. Until then, we need to start thinking about paying the rent. As usual, we are looking for members to pay a monthly race fee of €50 which allows u to race in Thursday evening and Sunday meetings (8 meetings). This is not compulsory, but good value. Regular daily race fee Will be €10. If interested in the monthly subscription, add your name to the list.

Sorry I did have a look through the gallery but missed this file. Looks quite impressive and could be a good option for the winter months.
Looking through the gallery brought back memories of racing a Griffen Valley, love racing there.

Just to give you all an update on whats being looked into at the moment;

1. Hopefully the Naul as our winter venue will be confirmed tomorrow
2. We are hoping to lay astroturf instead of carpet
3. We are pricing up an 8m long x 1.5m high scaffolding rostrum with easy access staircase
4. Setup day will be Saturday October 15th
5. Jumps will be less severe than last year, but still spectacular
6. The Xmas GP will happen agian this year - date to be set yet
7. Thursday eve and Sunday racing for buggies
8. Thursday eve flight (between races) for electric helicopters and planes

We still need some more people to sign up for the monthly rent to get this going. I am very confident that this winter is going to be the best seasons racing for decades!

This sounds like its going to be really good. I couldn't commit to the monthly fee thing as I would only be able to make it down on the odd sunday. I will however need the gps directions for this place as I have never been before. Can you help?

Hi David, we would never expect long distance travelling drivers to pay the monthly fee - its aimed more towards the club members. See you tomorrow.

Looks like its just Coling Whelan, Derek McCloskey and myself coming. Ian and Graham have to work night shifts tonight :(

8. Thursday eve flight (between races) for electric helicopters and planes

[QUOTE]

Lads I heard mention of helis and planes being run in the naul, but didnt think it would be on the same night as DMCC are running cars.
I personally think this a very very bad idea.
Im not going to go on about the dangers of flying models, but i think we should look at flying on a different night.

For what its worth I think its a great idea to invite other types of club to use the naul, but not on the same night.

:thumbsup: Great news everyone! The 10 people above will only pay 40 euro/month as Graham Parkes negotiated a rent reduction. We move into the Naul on Saturday October 15th - hopefully there will be racing on Sunday 16th, but I expect that the setup proceedure will still be going on and we may only get a practice session done.

If we got 3 more people, we could reduce it to 35 euro each/month
For 8 meetings a month, that would be serious value!!

Nigel Dungan?
Eoin Keating?
Brian MacManus?
Dave Bolger?

Come on guys - let get this wound up and start planning the season!

Will,

At €35 euro I might chip in. With the new edition its going to be extremely hard for me to get out. Can I ask if one pays that sum, is there still a race fee every week? I cant remember how we did it last year.

There is no race fees for people who pay the fee up front. Think of it as paying your race fees in advance.

Is there anyone from the North travelling down for this?

I'd expect Mark Penney to be a regular.
Niall Cromie will come sometimes when the kids schedules allow.

And I'd hope to get 10 drivers from the north for the Xmas GP - as its a round of the indoor national series.
Rumour is that some well know F1 drivers from the UK are coming too :)

Hi all,

After a bit of a false start, work in the Naul will commence this Saturday morning @ 10.30am. The astroturf is set to be delivered by Friday, so we will need bodies to brush it down and get it into place (make sure to have your Weetabix!!!)
Ian Hunter will be co-ordinating the jump construction - anyone with a skill saw, cordless drill etc, please bring them.
The rostrum is in place, but needs cladding (8x4 sheets) and painting.

Michael Bolger and Ivan Thomson are meeting in Lucan @ approx 1pm (get in touch with Mick before hand) to load all the track hoses, marshalling cones, etc etc and bring them out to the Naul - more bodies needed here.

WOW! What a fantastic first full meeting in the Naul!!! Thanks so much to the volunteer marshalls, volunteer race controllers and all the members who stayed behind after racing to tidy the shed... much appreciated!!!

I hope to run a fully "Automatic" meeting with 5 minutes between heats and a minimum of an hour between the start of rounds.

A bit of a difficult day, chasing a set up on the car most of the time but the facillity and track are fantastic and all the people who have contributed must be applauded for all their efforts. I for one will be back next week, hopefully a little bit wiser after today.

Absolutely fantastic racing yesterday. It could not have been tighter in 4wd mod with Derek, Mark and I all winning a final and all of us with a second. In the end the three way tie was decided by who had the fastest time in their final victory.
