That's a nice Cougar 2000 Mick :)

I have always liked the double deck Cougars/Fireblades. Is that the Comcom chassis set?

If you're needing parts let me know, i have a few spares for these now.

Paul.

I do have one now  and it's a Comcom as well, but mine is the tub version.

I asked about that 2000 painted shell too, it was a bit pricey...

I thought i'd hit the jackpot a few months ago when i was in a modelshop near me. I asked them if they had any old Schumy bits laying around and the guy came out from the storeroom with a shell marked up as a Cougar 2000.. I bought it on the spot (For a fiver ) Only when i got home did i realise it was for the Cougar 95 team... So a great score but not quite what i was looking for.

I'll maybe post a pic of my Tub 2000 tomorrow.

You mean this shell Mick? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCHUMACHER-BODYSHELL-VINTAGE-/190401439841?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item2c54cf6861

I've looked at it a few times, i think it's a Racecraft shell for either 95 team or Fireblade, but never been sure enough to spend 30 quid on it :eh?:

I did get this from ebay a while ago Mick, maybe 6 months ago.. It's one of my favourite buggys now, but i'd like to get a new shell/wing sometime so i could have it looking how i'd like :)

Big thumbs up for a cougar with no SACS front end! Nice cars. I had a 2000 '95 team. sold it for £40, what a mug!

Hi Mick. I also have a 2000 and its in nice condition too with all the factory C/F bits. The SACS front end of the 95 didnt interest me but the original set up is more to my liking even though people say that it didnt work all that well. Personaly their comments don't bother me, I like the car exactly for what it is.

I have that aftermarket shell set along with the original but simply wont part with either.

Thanks Jason...don't blame you for keeping them shells:)

Cheers Mick

My only experience of owning & racing the double-deck chassis 2wd Schumacher buggies is with Fireblades.... firstly a 'USA' & then an 'Evo' - this was at a time when I was a Schumacher sponsored driver.

All these buggies were pretty undesirable back then, especially as they got superceeeded by new models so often, that made 2nd hand values for these cars at the time, very low... I remember that I sold both my fully loaded & low usage Fireblades for very little..... something I kind of regret now having seen one go on ebay for over £100 :o ... but hey hindsight is a wonderfull thing!

After running a Losi XX for many years I suddenly was having to think about the set-up to get the Fireblades to handle well, they always felt 'edgy' but once set-up could be quick if you could keep all four wheels on the track!

I believe that the earlier Cougar 2000s were very similar, I can remember a few guys at our local club struggling with them, they certainly weren't ideal beginners cars! - Perhaps the rigid double-deck chassis mean't that it was the suspension that did all the work, on cars with moulded composite chassis, a certain amount of 'flex' is inherent, giving some ley-way with what springs & dampers were chosen.

Was was also interesting was that the last of the line Fireblades had almost returned full-circle in terms of design/layout to the first Cougar2000 with upright suspension & minimal overhang, after going through the low CofG phase of laydown shocks & massive gearbox overhang of the first Fireblade!
