The last 6 months has (and continues to) see a huge increase in the number of 1/10th Off Road 4WD cars being brought to market... the market is NOT big enough to support this number of models so some will die. Discuss...
Pred :(

D4.. ok
B44.. ok
Aero... new
Serpent... new
XX4 and the X5
XXX4... :(
TRF501... too limited

You forgot the DB-01 Durga and the MK4.1 something or other xx4 conversion from Heini :D
I actually think it is great for this year and hope there won't be any "no-hope" cars. It's always great to hear a race commentator go off his rocker screaming the cars brand and names as well. This years carpet season has been very "B4 in the lead in front of another b4 and bringing up the rear is another B4"
4wd is going to be large this year which is nice because of the fact that there are so many cars to choose from.
Whether all the cars are still around in a year or two will have to be seen. I certainly hope Aero sticks with it!!!

BJ4/B44 - hard to tell the difference. Think both are here to stay.
I can't see the XX4 ever being out of contention. Fair enough Losi don't sell it as a kit, but like in the past, it'll never go away - and this is why the X-5 was born, and like the XX4 it'll never go away. I for one cannot imagine not running it, I honestly never ever get frustrated with it, its just ace everywhere.
Im suprised by how many new 4wd kits have been launched, my opinion is this makes launching a kit very hard as the market is diluted for an individual manufacturer. Same with any launch, a business simply does not launch a product when its potentialmarket could be distracted by an alternative and in this case there's several alternatives. Its nuts! (But I didn't pass my marketing exam and could be very wrong LOL)

Would the carpet seaon include worksop as its also an indoor meeting. If so then that couldn't be further from the truth. I think its been Losi and X factory that have had the spoils. Not really followed much else for obvious reason, but want to defend that comment :D:D:D
It would be nice for some more 2wd to enter the frame, but that obviosuly happening at the moment with the Kyosho being developed and the HB. Who's next? :)

I personally think its going to be like atomic carbon xfactory aero that are going to sruggle if any company is as new peopel to the sport will want the big companys like hot bodies and AE and losi where there are all the parts readily available track side as ive seen very few newbies with box's full of spares and also these are the cars they will see if the racer mags etc etc and in there local model shops more AE and HB than losi but you get the picture.

Sadly i think this could kill off the pred:( i dont think they have anyone capable of winning a national or even making the A.
Same with the BJ4 which i love but even though rich will put it in a few A`s this year we have the B44 and D4 clones which are significantly cheaper and you have the likes of pidge running one so it may be seen as the car to have
S4/S44 and the X5 are all specialist cars and radical (ish) and these will always sell but never in there 1000s like the b44
This might even be the final year the XX4 is truly competetive, what ever happens it will be a very interesting season:thumbsup::)

looking at it the B44 is more of a clone of the D4 as the d4 was released earlier lol we wont go there lol.
The xx4 is going down hill due to the team drivers leaving im sure none of the drivers would have left if losi had a good new 4wd but horizon arent intereted its not making them enough money. But losi still has soem of the most exsperianced drivers about and some great younger tallents such as danny, tom cockerill, darren bloomfield but they also have the exsperiance fo the likes of tricky. So its still good. Still got a very good chance to show everyone what losi is made of.

What about the Cat SX
Just from the poster i`m very interested to see the final product.

I cant comment on the X factory or the Aero but you dont need a box full of spares if your running the Atomic cars.
As most people know I can be a little bit aggressive & the only parts Ive broke are a drive pin & a couple of TC3 gears which were due to me having the slipper locked when I first got the car & both parts are readily available track side!

Since I've been racing 10th off road seems to have got a lot more popular, and 4WD especially so. I remember when seeing a couple of 4wd's at a club day was about it. Now they sometimes outnumber 2wd.
Rather than look at who might struggle, I'd prefer to think about who might do well and hopefully with all these new and exciting cars we'll get more interest in this side of the sport.

If spares become a lot easier to get for all cars I can see a lot of people switching from 1/8th and TC to off-road, more so if for next year Li-Po is allowed.
I switched to mainly off-road to get more of the 'fun factor' which racing should be, I can have more of a laugh with people in offroad than TC's

You damn straight fool.....
Totally agree about the fun factor Antnee, but i really dont think that not allowing lipo is holding the class back at all, the class is booming just look at the national entrys, it looks like it will only be F 1,2,3`s:lol:
Its never been so good!!

Im not a shaft power car fan, however I do like the Serpent very much and would like that to take a big chunk out of the market. The chassis alone is stunning.
The Tamiya should be on the market for some time and yes they are to limited, however the 2nd hand market is quite good and worth a look if your interested.
Losi, well I am wondering if they will stay in 4wd, as Losi Jr has gone to Kyosho.
Isn`t the serpent just a fat aero now:confused:

Lee,
We all know you are in love with the Aero.
Can I suggest you print out the pictues, retire to a darkened room on your own for a while, and come back out when your done! :wub:wub:wub
G
I`m back, and the serpent is still Phat:woot:
The serpent is very very nice and im sure it will fly but with it coming from the durango which was the first super slim car, i thought it would be as slim as they can make it, why compromise if it is meant to be the ultimate race car.
thats not a dig by any means i love the quick release slipper and other features on it and who knows i may buy one, if the plastic isnt like putty.
